Dear Sister,
There is no restriction for you to embrace Islam …. Actually, you might be already Muslim as it only need from you to recognize the existence of God "Allah (in Arabic translation)" and that prophet Mohammed is his messenger to declare this through saying it in the following words:
There no god but Allah…. And Mohammed is his messenger
"La Ilaha Ila Allah Wa Mohammadon Rasuolullah" (in Arabic pronunciation)
Latter visit this site for some guidance

Take care….

You should know that there is a verse in the Quran that says, "There is NO compulsion in religion." So there is no specific age one can convert. That is their own personal decision although it is encouraged that if you are inclined to do so, to do it quickly because no one knows when their time of death will be and it's good to die in a state of Islam. BUT Allah (swt) is All Knowing what is within the souls and is Most Merciful. Some people dont convert because of fear of what others might think yet in their hearts they are Muslim. So I believe that is accepted in Allah's eyes. Also, good to note that the strong Muslim is better than the weak one and the one who tries his/ her best to attain a closer relationship with Allah, He will come closer to them and make their hardships easy. As, for your second Q, I didnt quite understand it.

Anyone who can study a religion and contemplate converting to it is likely at a good age in life to do that. I just wonder if you have ever considered what God's role in conversion is? I'm speaking as a Christian, knowing that many professing Christians can follow that faith yet not be converted. I believe God turns a person around, away from their sin (unholiness) and towards himself. When God does such a work of grace, coming down to move them to a place of spiritual well-being, true conversion takes place. Have you sought God for his enabling?
I would also ask you to consider people who believe in God but who have been educated enough to know about Islam and choose NOT to follow Islam. Yet they still believe in God and strive to live holy lives, devoted to God. Where do they supposedly fit in in the Islamic scheme of things? Millions of people today have chosen not to follow Islam but they know the reality of God in their lives. I pray your steps will be guided by the Holy Spirit.

A person doesn't really convert, this is a misconception.
A person that takes this path is indeed in for some hardships.
Allah (God) wishes for a persons heart to become clear and pure as that of a baby.
Islam is looked at in these times with a negative view from those that have not come to an understanding of the right of man to choose his own path.
The Prophets of God have been sent to uplift mankind.
Choose your path "Wisely", and don't let anyone else choose for you.
Give a lot of thought for this is a major decision in your life.
I chose at the age of 40, to follow the Islamic tradition.
This path is correct for me.
I taught Christianity for 16 years and found it a stepping stone, to enhance my faith in God. It is imperative to understand all the spiritual traditions. Then make a rational choice for yourself.
Above all things believe in "God", and always "Remember" to give thanks to "God"!
Ameen & Amen

A person is advised to become Muslim as soon as possible because if a person is pubescent, sane and hears the Testification of Faith of the Muslims in a language they understand, then if they reject it they are accountable for that on Judgement Day. And who knows when a person's life will end - suddenly or at old age.
People who have never heard the basic message of Islam: that there is only 1 God and that MuHammad is His Messenger are not accountable. Hence they will be saved on Judgement Day even if they were not Muslim, This is the meaning of Surat al-Israa' Verse 15

There is no particular age that you have to convert by. I believe you should convert when you have faith and feel comfortable enough to declare your self a Muslim. There is no point calling yourself a Muslim if you don't have faith in heart. Best Wishes! :-)

1. age is to decide is when the person is old enough to decide... thus when the person can tell by how he/she act or how people treat them if they are mature...
2. if you have never heard of islam or that it exists then there is no case against you... God is fair... if you never received His message then it is not your fault....

Most Muslims are born Muslim so the answer is age "0". Sometimes wisdom/intelligence comes with age, and this works against Islam, so the younger the better.
For example, the older you get, the harder it is to believe something like this:
Quran 18:86 “(Zul-Qarnain travelled till) when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: near it (sun in spring) he found a People” http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/018.qmt.html#018.086
However, young kids can rationalize stupidity like this with something like "ohh, Im sure that this doesnt mean what it says...or maybe the sun can be found in a muddy spring".
Another problem is self esteem, which can increase with age as well. For example, any female with healthy levels of self-respect or self esteem could never ever accept this:
Bukari: then he passed by the women and said, "o women! give alms, as i have seen that the majority of the dwellers of hell-fire were you (women)." they asked, "why is it so, o allah's apostle ?" he replied, "you curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. i have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/006.sbt.html#001.006.301
Quran 2:223 “your wives are a tilth for you, so go into your tilth when you like ...” http://www.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/002.qmt.html
Quran 4:34 "(as to those muslimah’s) on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them;" http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/004.qmt.html
Bukari: “”the prophet said, "isn't the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?" the women said, "yes." he said, "this is because of the deficiency of a woman's mind."” http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/048.sbt.html#003.048.826
Bukari: “the prophet said, "after me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women."”http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/062.sbt.html#007.062.033
Bukari: “(muhammad) evil omen is only in three: a horse, a woman and a house."” http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/071.sbt.html#007.071.666
