I mean, seems like a no brainer to realize that there is no such thing. You can't TRULY love someone that you don't know. Lust at first sight, sure. but not love. Its obvious that the word itself has become so misconstrued, just by hearing how people talk about celebrities, or princess di, for example. Oh, I love her/him sooo much! No you don't, you don't even know them, get a life. You can admire/respect someone you don't know, but you cannot love them. It's not the definition of the word. So , all this being said.....love at first sight?! come on.

Some people don't know what love really is.
They may also think with their....genitals.
People also misuse the word love on a regular basis, it's starting not to mean anything.
There's no such thing as love at first sight. Most people who say they are in love, aren't.

This thing people call "love at first sight" doesn't exist. This infatuation is caused by a number of small chemicals that is released to the brain. Some of the chemicals are as follows:

Dopamine - Also activated by cocaine and nicotine

Norepinephrine - Otherwise known as adrenalin. Starts us sweating and gets the heart racing

Serotonin - One of love's most important chemicals and one that may actually send us temporarily insane

Oxytocin

Vasopressin

The reason why these chemicals are released is because your looking at someone who is incredibly pleasing to the eye. These chemicals also release when you're in a new relationship or if you're seeing someone that you seem to be infatuated with. These chemicals are known to remain in the body for as long as 6-8 months.

Alot of times these chemicals are also knowns as:
infatuation, love at first site, butterflies etc etc.

I agree it's so weird but i think that people belive in love at first sight because they think that there is such a thing as fate and so they think that if they have this special feeling then they should know that they're perfect. its really confusing and stupid but thats just how people are

I don't think it's something that can be explained. I've heard over and over - especially from men - that they just "knew" that was the woman for them. Not so much from the girls.... And the guys that have said that to me were determined to do whatever it took to win that woman over to them. My brother-in-law said he "knew" and my sister was dating someone else at the time. He just kept in the picture being her friend until the time was right for them. There wasn't any rush -any pressure, just an assurance that she was his.
I think a lot of people have juvenile crushes at first sight and certainly you can have lust at first sight...

It's not the actual ACT...it's the idea...the ideal that people are searching for...it's always sweeter to *think* that something like that CAN happen. And, if you have a heart that can believe in such things, sometimes, you find that heart can beat a little happier and a little stronger sometimes.

they watch too many movies?
they listen to popular culture?
They read too many sappy books?
being in 'love' with distant celebrities is a stage most early teens go through before they are ready for real relationships. They don't know how to have a real one so they have a pretend one first. Kids do the same with jobs etc. Play first then do it for real.
Cut them some slack. Why are you spending your time getting upset with and criticizing others. You are telling others to get a life, but is deciding what others should have for their life really the life you want to get for yourself?

People who believe in love at first sight, still have the ability to hope, and have faith in something larger than themselves.
