I tolerate people who think that the only way to heaven is through Jesus, some are even friends. But they have a mindset, which is something apart from specific Christianity, that I don't find enjoyable to be around a lot.
The thought of those being the only sort of people in heaven puts me off wanting to go; I really would prefer to go to hell, and share a postcode with people like Ghandi, Einstein, and Lincoln.

I understand what you mean. We are hard to get along with sometimes arn't we? How do you know that Ghandi, Einstein and Lincoln are not in heaven? What ever you can imagine heaven to be, well, it will even be more fun than you have ever had here on earth. Your friends won't drive you crazy either. Your talents and personality will be used to the the fullest. Whenever a Christian tells me something I am not just so sure about, I always pray and ask God to show me. If you ask Him he will do the same for you too.

I would want to see you in heaven ,former things are passed away , all things become new . Those people won't have that " mind set " for sin ( like pride ) will be never more , we will all be serving Jesus. Hell will be eternal suffering and torment with no end in sight . Do you really want that ? Romans 10:17 , John 3:16 , John 3:36

Good point Mr. A. ...I don't want to go for the company, I want to go for the host...imagine being in a position to have all your questions answered by the one who knows all the answers!

As for hanging out with Ghandi, Einstein, and Lincoln, good luck! If hell exists then it is a place of torment not a place for fun philosophical chats. You're much more likely to end up confined with Jim Jones and two mass murderers...or perhaps you'll be in a wax museum with likenesses of Ghandi, Einstein and Lincoln and nothing else.

In heaven, people won't be burdened by all their earthly characteristics including (most likely) those you find unappealing (you weren't specific). Forget the company...would you rather be in a place ruled by good or a place ruled by evil? I'd much rather be ruled by someone like Lincoln (a man who tried to do "good" irrespective of his religious beliefs) than by Hitler or Saddam Hussein (men who did evil irrespective of their beliefs)!

Right now you experience things that are good, beautiful, wonderful, amazing, breath taking, sweet, tender, comforting, etc. because the presence of God is still here. Eventually, the presence of God will be completely removed from a place we know as "hell." What will be left? There will be none of the things you love right now in your life. Instead there will be despair, disease, torment, anxiety, fear, oppression, malice, violence, decay, etc.--all to the extreme degree because they will not be tempered by the presence of God nor by the people of God.

You should choose heaven if you choose to live in the presence of God and with all that comes from him. You should choose hell if you would rather live without all that is wonderful so that you can avoid serving and worshiping a holy God.

You have the concept backwards. If you don't like those people, then, if you go to heaven, you will be away from all those idiots, and get to talk science with Einstein or whatever you want. Heaven is whatever you want it to be. If you went to Hell, you'd be surrounded by those people you don't like.

Don't worry. Since you don't accept Jesus I'm sure you'll have no trouble being sent to Hell. Be careful what you ask for though. Jesus is the light and the way. Give yourself up before it's to late to Him.

Wanting to go to heaven for the company of others is completely missing the point.
