or well, I suppose the count is objective. I see 17, though some see 14 or 15. Whatever, there is more than 10 this I know lol.

It's funny you should mention this. I was having a conversation the other day with some friends of mine and we were joking that,
"God gave us 10 rules, man upped it to 600, God came back and reduced it all to 2, and now man has taken those 2 and made over 1,000,000 laws."
Obviously, we were being sarcastic, but the core truth remains. While there are 10 commandments, there are also something like 613 laws written in the OT. On top of that, there are rabbinical laws. I don't know the exact number, but it became so hard to follow all the laws that Jesus found it necessary, when he was asked which was most important, to explain that all laws could be condensed to 2: Love of God and love of all mankind.

You are right, however. There are more than 10 commandments. There are the 10 that everybody is familiar with in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 and then, there are another 10 that can be found in Exodus 34 that are referred to as the "Ritual Decalogue."

Have fun reading. :-)

I've only ever counted 10...though some of them have more detail necessary to explain the basic commandment. But just because I give my students instructions about an assignment using more than one sentence doesn't mean there is more than one assignment!

The 10 commandments are pretty simple if you break them down the way my pastor did in his series this summer:
1. Love God First
2. Idols Can't Help
3. Fear God's Name
4. Enjoy a Rest
5. Give your Parents Respect
6. Understand that Life is Valuable
7. Adultery is wrong
8. Resist Stealing
9. Don't Lie
10. Stay Content

The 10 commandments are simple "LIFEGUARDS" (see first letter in wording above) to protect us from problems in life...and these 10 really say it all...even if you try to break down individual commandments in to separate sentences with more specific instructions, they all boil down to the 10 above.

No, there are really 10 commandments, but some Christians don't get them right.

All together there are 613 commandments (mitzvot) in Torah, they are like DOs and DON'Ts. Christians don't really acknowledge the laws of Torah.

They don't accept Talmud at all, Talmud is only for Jews.

You need to give your source so we can observe what you are counting.

Add: Why do people ignore the second list given by Moses in Exodus 34:12-26. These are called the ten commandments in verse 28. Here are even more to add to your other list. Be smart, believe Jesus, Not Moses.

That darn Moses dropped and broke one of the tablets on his way down the mount and cursing was invented.

Does it matter? I've failed to keep them all when I fail to keep just one. What does it matter the count?
