I was just wondering how Baptists feel about celebrating holidays that were originally Catholic.

Alpine_Bass, how can anyone miss out on holidays that offend God? Jesus said nothing about celebrating his birth or resurrection.

As a Baptist, we celebrate Christmas and Easter. Most celebrate Halloween, or at least let children dress up and go out for candy. Some feel the holiday is satanic, but I enjoy Halloween, because I love scary movies, and I like dressing up in costumes.

I was raised baptist, we celebrate both Christmas and Easter, but we try to keep the focus on Christ rather than santa or the Easter bunny. Halloween is a little different and some don't celebrate it, but most of us don't have a problem with your kids dressing up like princesses and pirates to go collect candy from all your neighbors.

They celebrate the birth of Jesus and His death and resurrection on Christmas and Easter. The people who really miss out are say... Jehovah's witnesses. It must be terrible to be a kid without any holidays.

Well growing up I was baptist.. We had a tree but the holiday was supposed to be all about god... we had the little nativity scene and crap. Easter was church and no candy it was all about Jesus. Halloween was a evil holiday... Satan's holiday lol even though its in reality a pagan holiday. Ugh boy did I get robbed of my childhood..

I claim no religion but my children enjoy the commercialized version of Christmas and Easter. Halloween is my favorite holiday now :)

The same way many man-made religions feel about these type of things- confused.

There are religions- like Jehovah Witnesses, another man-made religion- that knows about the pagan influence on these holidays- but not aware that their creator- WAS A PAGAN HIMSELF.
