She is a small breed (pomeranian) and is 27 weeks (so about 6.5 months)... she is really getting tired of her puppy kibble and i know she likes her adult kibble... is it okay to give her adult kibble at about 8 months? what if i also give her some puppy wet food (she loves that!) to balance it out?

wow 'way 2 smart' you need to seriously get a life!

'feel for advertising' ? clearly shows how stupid you really are seeing as though puppy food and adult food cost the same, me & my pup aren't losing out on anything

you must be one of those losers who has no spine so he has to come online to try and bash people... get a life already!

I agree with Stephanie S. I recently read a recommendation from a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeder (a toy breed) about puppy nutrition. The breeder does not recommend puppy chow for the exact reason Stephanie stated. I also feed my 4 month-old puppy Wellness Puppy Super5Mix. I am going to purchase an adult variety of Wellness and begin to gradually wean her from the puppy version.

I never fed "puppy chow" - mine is a large breed and puppy chows tend to have too high of protein levels. You want something with protein about 22-28% so they don't grow too fast for a larger breed. I don't know if that is an issue with small breeds.

Avoid foods with ingredients such as wheat, corn, or animal by products (those are usually feathers, feet, hooves, etc.) Also you want to feed kibble or raw (unless you want expensive dental visits later), No canned food - they are generally bad for the teeth.

It should be fine.Toy breeds reach adulthood earlier than larger breeds, and if you're feeding a quality adult food, then it should be formulated for all life stages.Just think,in the old days, they just had plain, old dog food, nothing special, and pups grew up just fine. And,adding the canned puppy food will make up for it.I say go ahead.

Oh,and I think that way 2 smart is just brownosesusan, coming back with a different name to insult people!

I think that would work at a year though switch completely to all adult because puppy food won't have enough vitamins and other things to give her enough energy.

i think it depends on the dog.

we fed our bouvier adult food at around 8 months, but our breeder for our pomeranian still had the poms on puppy food at 18 months!

My pup has been feed the same thing since babyhood - raw meaty bones, offal and a few table scraps.

The attached link has some good information.
