In My room i have a computer cord with a tv, dvd and a playstation 2 but i shut toff the cord when i'm not watching tv. i also have a air conditioner plug into a different plug outlet and finally my cell phone charger and plug for my laptop.

When the circuit breaker falls, and power is off, then you will know you try to draw too much current.
However, drawing too much current is not the same as a short circuit. A short circuit will force the circuit breaker to fall (and you will lose power) even if NO device is connected to any of your power outlets.
