I have both an 870 express magnum, and a 10/22.
I love the 870 out to 100 yards it is amazing maybe i got lucky but I can hit the bull with rem. 3" slugger magnums out to 75 yards with no scope. I t is great close quarters as well for home defence with TAP rounds buck shot or slugs. Easy to clean, only downfall is that the older models are not blued just painted so without proper care they can rust, i would suggest painting it with Lauer Custom Weaponry paint great application even better look. I have mine converted with an m4 collapsible stock pictany rail pistol grip weapon light mag ext etc... but it is still used for target and hunting use. I love it.
http://stores.ebay.com/ULTIMATEARMS-SPORTING-SUPERSTORE this is a great site i found for 870 and other related goods

The 10/22 very accurate highly customisable kind of a pain to take apart depending on the model you have...I have owned the base model and the thumb-hole stock bull barrel beast that shoots amazing i highly recommend both

I own a Ruger 10/22. I love this gun. I owned a Marlin 70hc 22lr and thought it was a good gun, til the thing started to jam up on me pretty bad. Granted...The Marlin 70hc is an old gun. It was hard to find larger capacity clips than the two 7 round clips I had with the gun. That is why I chose to buy the 10/22. There's nothing worse than running out of ammo out in the field, hunting rabbit. With the 10/22, I have 4 Eagle 30 round clips, 2 Butler Creek 25 round clips and the stock Ruger 10 rounder. With that many rounds on hand, I am able hunt more than my cousins can with there 7 or 15 round 22lrs. The Ruger 10/22 is accurate and reliable, not to mention a lot of fun for a gun at $197. The 10/22 does jam up, but not even close to being as bad as the Marlin 70hc was.
Also you can dress up the Ruger 10/22 to fit your style. Many after market products for this gun.

I had a Marlin .30-30 WCF for several years. In my opinion it is superior to the Winchester M-94 and costs less. This is especially true if you want to mount a scope. You can mount it directly over the receiver and not have to putz around with side mounts.

As for the Ruger 10/22, I consider it to be the best .22 semi-automatic on the market.

And I consider .410 shotguns to be pretty worthless as a class. They are miserable tools to teach beginners, a 20 or 28 gauge is far better. Like .25 ACP pistols, .410's are tools for experts, not novices.

If you want a single-shot shotgun, check out the H&R Handi-Rifles. If you get a 12 gauge, you can have barrels for the other gauges and several rifle caliber barrels fitted to the reciever at a modest cost.

In pump shotguns, I prefer Mossberg M-500's over Remingtons. They cost less, they are absolutely reliable, and the safety is handier.

I have a Walther P-22. Great little auto-loader. My is equiped with fitted laser sights. Great plinker.

I also own a Remington 870 w/rifled 20" barrel & rifle sights. Shoots like a carbine. The 870 is probably the best pump action shotgun made.

I have a Remington 870. A very good hunting and self defense gun. I gave $125 for it at a pawn shop, after I showed the pawnbroker the barrel had been shortened to 20". Don't know why anyone would shorten a cyinder bored barrel, but they did and did a good job of replacing the bead front sight. Perhaps they were tryting to make an 870P.
I bought a 28" Modified choke vent rib barrel to hunt with at a gun shop for $65.

I have the 870 and it's a great gun. It's a heck of a bargain too. There are a lot of options out there for it. The 10/22 is the same. So many options and it's also way fun to shoot. I have both of these and would definitely recommend them to everyone.

i have a remington 870 super mag. it is an awesome gun!! i bought it last year and have already smoked two turkeys with it this years season. they are very reasonable. ithink i payed $325 new from walmart. it is a great gun for hunting turkey, deer, ducks, geese, and others. it is a great performance shotgun without the sticker shock. plus remington is very respectable, and if you have any problems at all they will take care of you. don't throw money away when you can have a gun as good as any other for a reasonable price. the price i gave you is for a pump. good luck

Baby Ruger 9mm

I've had an older model "Baby-Eagle" 9-mm for quite a number of years now and love it. It's got a SOLID feel to it and just feels smoother and doesn't jump as much in my hands (compared to my Glock-17). Since I have an older model - it came with the hi-cap magazines, so it holds just as many rounds as the Glock.

I like it so much that I purchased the same gun in .45-acp a few years later.
