In the 2004 election 40% of Hispanics voters voted for Bush. As one of the articles show the Republicans have lost a some what large percentage of those to the Democrats , more than likely because they were offended by there stance on immigration. Currently the most popular presidential candidate among Hispanic voters in Hilary Clinton (59%). Historically the Republicans need at least 30% of the Hispanic vote to win the election. As you can clearly read in the first article 11% of Hispanics identify themselves as Republicans. 42 % of Hispanics identify themselves as Democrats. And 39% consider themselves independent.
So what can we make of this?

I agree with that. It's true though, I knew lots of Hispanic people and others that aren't Hispanic(white, black, Asians) who were for Bush, but now we are all for the Democrats to fix this whole problems.
I definitely changed my mind, because of the war, immigration, and I will vote for either Obama or Clinton.

Neither party has actually lost a large percentage of Hispanics voters. Try telling it like it is. Bush promised the illegals, and Mexico that he would do right by them by allowing them to come here. Now the Democrats are promising them the same thing if elected as President. Your Hispanic voters are the ones who swing back and forth based on those promises.
And it has always been the Independents who have settled the matter over who would be in office, and who would not. Because the facts are that there are far more Independent voters than Republican, and Democrats combined. And more are dropping from the latter two parties to join us Independents every day.

Maybe the Hispanics voters are returning to the Dem's, but some life time long Dem's such as myself and others are parting ways with the Dem's, because we believe that amnesty is not the way to go. We believe that immigration policy should be made by the citizens of this country being we are the ones that pay the bills for the cost of running and keeping our country secure, not the illegals no matter how hard working or well intended. I know that your posting did not speak to the issue of illegal immigration, but that is one of the reasons that most Hispanic are returning to the Dem's

What I make of this is how much of a game elections have become. Percentages based on nothing. There have been no candidates that actually have a platform to promote why they should be elected. It's a numbers game with mud slinging and no substance. The job of the politician is to get elected and stay elected, play up to the special interest money. Jaded and bitter? Yeah, I am.

Well I have to say the immigration stance of some Republicans is scaring me away. If the Democrats were not so in bed with the unions, I would consider voting for them because I think the immigration question says a lot about someones political and moral compass.

Good question and good links. Very informative.
One phrase in the Fox link you posted said in part:
"In fact, said veteran Republican strategist Craig Shirley, the longer Hispanic citizens have lived in the United States, the less tolerant they are toward illegal immigration and the more likely they are to oppose a reform bill that allows undocumented workers to remain in the United States and begin a path toward citizenship."
This would follow the trend I see in my state in the southwest and would hurt the Democrats much more than the Republicans.
We have a long way to go to the primaries, and these statistics will change as time goes on. When it's narrowed down to the 2 main candidates in the actual election, people will weigh their candidates position on all matters and then make their choice.
I want a 3rd party option personally, but a "Common Sense" party is dead on its inception.

George Bush carried a lot of the Latino voters because of his Latino nephews. Jeb's wife's ethnicity spoke for the family, and, Jeb and other purposely spoke Spanish (though broken). I remember seeing the nephew speaking about what a great president his uncle would be on Uni vision........ I think they will vote (generally) for whomever they think is going to be closest to amnesty. That is their principal concern (obviously).

I still don't understand why we vote for a President. Our votes don't count. The electoral college elects the President. Even the people who are vying for the job are lying through their teeth to everyone in America, yet people keep 'voting' to put these liars in office. Not one person elected to the Presidency has kept any of their campaign promises during their tenures as President. So why would any sane person vote for one of these morons? Of course, while this may sound biased, it is only my opinion.
