I got my braces last year and discovered really, you can still eat basiclly everything you did before.
But, right when I got mine on I was too afraid to try anything they told me not to because I was in so much pain. But now, I eat popcorn, gum, gummy worms, etc. And it dosent hurt, and I havn't dont anyting to my teeth, and my dentist and ortho said they were in great condition. But if you just got them on, I'd hold off on the harder (or stickier) stuff for a bit until you get used to them.

something that may not persist with your braces. So no caramel, tootsie rolls, gum, or different gummy candy. you probably can consume maximum candy bars, M&Ms, Twizzlers, and issues like that. a great rule of thumb is that if it sticks on your teeth now, do no longer consume it with braces. Now, in the adventure that your popular candy is on the off-limits record, that does suck, despite if it is going to likely be somewhat worth it to abstain to get your teeth at as quickly as. additionally, in case you persevere with all your orthodontist's training related to any headgear and rubber band wearage, you will in all likelihood get your braces off earlier than forecasted. i became instructed i'd could have mine on for 2 to 2 a million/2 years, yet i think of they assumed that, being a young person, I wasn't going to placed on my headgear or my rubberbands like i became meant to. yet I did, and that i've got been given my braces off in 18 months. Bonus is that in case you opt to "stop" a definite sort of candy or gum, this would be a brilliant possibility to do it considering the fact which you are able to!

Do they still make those Jolly Rancher sticks that you can just suck on instead of chew? I loved the sour apple. If you also like popcorn my ortho told me there's an imitation popcorn that was called Poppitee's (something like that). It's really good even though it's not real popcorn.
I had braces over 20 years ago, not fun, but it'll be worth it in the end.

You can eat whatever kind of candy you want. Ive had braces twice and i found that i didnt need any food restrictions except caramel stuck to everything in my mouth (kinda gross)!!

Well, if you just got them today, you can't eat any of the candy stuff. Bummer, I know....But you should be good in a couple days or so. Or you could just go against your best judgement and eat it anyway...I would'nt recommend it though.

oh screw whatever your ortho said, i've had braces for a while, and about 70 % of my friends have them , and we eat everything,
except, i suggest you avoid candy apples, and those chewy carmel things, they take foreeever to get out, but anywho,
you can eat whatever once youre used to your braces and your mouth isnt sore, no on ever follows the food guidlines,
