Well, didn't Nostradamus say the world would end in 1999 and aren't we still here? God isn't going to tell any of us here when he is coming, but we will all know when he's here.

My Christian perspective says that if more than one person believes it will happen at 9 AM EST on 12/21/08, that is the only time it will NOT happen. The bible makes it clear that NO man can or will know when the Lord will return so any date that more than one person agrees on is bound to be false!
Of course, you also have to accept that the "rapture" is a given and, despite significant study of the book of Revelation, I am NOT convinced that God promised to remove his followers from the world before the tribulation. I'm not convinced that a "rapture" IS "mentioned in the bible"...that's certainly one interpretation but there are certainly others that are also consistent with the prophecy of John. For example, I once heard someone explain why what some Christians view as a rapture of living believers was really a raising of all the believers that that already died!???
...and even if you accept the premise of a rapture that involves God taking living believers with him, you still have to speculate about whether it happens before the tribulation, midway through the tribulation, or at the end of the tribulation.
For me, the safest and most reasonable strategy is simply to be ready whatever happens. Those that believe the rapture happens before the tribulation starts could be setting themselves up to miss the signs that it is starting if they are wrong about the timing. Live as if it could happen in this instant and you'll be ready if and when it happens...leave the speculation about the date and time to people that don't understand what the bible says about the end of times (just what you said...NO ONE WILL KNOW THE EXACT DATE and it is DANGEROUS to think you do know!)

Look in Rapture history and you'll see that about every 20 years since 100 AD, the Rapture has been predicted. This will be another one on the list.

You are exactly right. Its foolishness to try to pinpoint when the rapture is coming. No one knows. I don't care how much you've "reserched" it you don't know. It could happen in a thousand years, or it could happen before I finish dinner. The Bible says that no one will be expecting it when it comes.

The bible does not give a date. Even Jesus said He didn't know the day.

And the Aztec calender only goes to 2012, and the Notre Dame-Michigan football series has been extended thru 2031. If I listen to everyone, I'll be awfully confused.

Why are you even asking this? If it happens it happens no avoiding it! Also people have been trying to predict the end of the world since they first thought of the end of the world! Stop questioning it makes no difference if you know!

No one knows the day or the hour when Jesus will return. I don't believe in the rapture, because it is anti-biblical. Jesus will return once more in glory and not in secret. God bless.
