Ok it is blazing hot and I am going to get an Italian ice for myself. Then I was thinking that it would be nice for the kitties to have a treat, so I'm wondering if it would be ok to get a little tiny one for them to share. Since it is only water and flavor, it should be ok right? Provided it is a flavor that cats are ok to eat (i.e. not chocolate and whatnot). Whaddya think?

My cats are interested in anything that I am eating, and they do try to eat Italian ice. I was thinking of giving them some because it is cold, rather than because I thought they wanted a sweet treat. I do usually put ice cubes in their water, but I wanted to give them a treat. I think I'll just see if they're interested and let them have a little taste...

It shouldn't hurt them.

You can put out a dish with water and ice cubes in it as well. They would probably enjoy that on a hot day.

It will be fine, but make sure it is not a habit. Cats do not need all that sugar, which can cause an upset stomach. You can give your cat the italian ice and make sure it's a tiny lick, but don't let your cat bite into the whole thing and eat it in general. Changes in a cat's diet can turn everything around and bother the cat's stomach for a little while, but afterwards, everything will be fine with extra water and her regular cat food daily. But, make sure you don't give your cat ice cream. Cats are lactose intolerant and that can hurt her stomach terribly, which can cause her to stop eating for a couple of hours because of the pain that's bothering the kitten. If you give your kitten WAY TOO MUCH italian ice, that can cause diarrhea, so be quite careful with what ice products you might feed it. So many people give cats ice cream and think it's okay because ice cream is made out of milk, but then they always wonder why their cats always act differently and lay down all day, whimpering. Sometimes, you need to watch out with what you feed cats, especially at a young age because there are some things your kitten might not be able to take in. To be more specific and to be on the safe side, ask your veterinarian and see what they say because there's a lot of cats out there that can eat a couple of human food, but get allergies as a result. Make sure your cat stays healthy and don't give her TOO MUCH italian ice. A little lick will be fine, though. No problem.

I'm sure they CAN, just don't know if they SHOULD. Doesn't seem like anything a cat would be really interested in.

I don't know... can they? My cat loves vanilla ice cream, even though he gets diarrhea from it. I don't think a little bit will hurt them.

Won't hurt but cats can't taste sweet so it may not like it or not care about it.
