Since you have made it very clear that you are not to associate with or talk to "apostates", why do you answer questions on R&S that you know are from them? Aren't you afraid that someone might know who you are and turn you in to the elders of your local congregation? I'm just curious, no offense intended at all, but shouldn't you be ignoring us?

I assume the only JWs on yahoo answers who respond to ex-jws are Elders, because they're the only ones temptation-free enough to expose themselves to those they consider apostate.

At least it was that way when I was involved.

oops. you asked for JWs only..

First this is an open forum.

Second this is the internet, honestly I really don't know ANYONE on Y!A, as far as I know:D

I work on the assumption that anyone on here can/could be anything. I am simply answering questions posted, rarely if ever does someone try to converse with me. Also in general when answering a query I do so for the question asked and for anyone else reading it.

I am rather public about my use of this site, if someone has a problem with it they can talk to me about it, hasn't happened yet:D

Firstly, it seems impossible to be certain exactly which questioner is "apostate", who is merely anti-Witness, who is sincere, and who is simply entertaining themselves in an odd way.

Secondly, it is relatively easy to answer a question (or a "question") without actually "associating" or conversing with the questioner.

Thirdly, anti-Witnesses (such as "apostates") regularly address their so-called "questions" only ostensibly to Jehovah's Witnesses, but with the larger readership in mind. Perhaps some Witnesses feel it is only natural to address their answers in the same fashion.

Fourthly, it seems a real stretch to equate the refutation of anti-Witness propaganda with "association".

Fifthly, the questioner seems to ignore the possibility that his (and others') anti-Witness propaganda is routinely refuted by non-Witnesses who simply value the Truth and respect Jehovah's Witnesses. Perhaps some defenders studied for a time and have obstacles to their dedication. Perhaps some defenders were raised in or around the faith and know that the religion is laudable. Perhaps there are even disfellowshipped former Witnesses who see Yahoo Answers as a unique opportunity to defend the Truth while they struggle to overcome some sinful practice.

(Zechariah 8:23) It will be in those days that ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold, yes, they will actually take hold of the skirt of a man who is a Jew, saying: “We will go with you people, for we have heard that God is with you people.”

(1 Corinthians 14:23-25) [Any unbeliever or ordinary person] will fall upon his face and worship God, declaring: “God is really among you.”

Even in the United States, the conventions and Memorials of Jehovah's Witnesses routinely enjoy attendances of 200-250% of the number of active Witnesses. Clearly, there are many who feel an affinity for the faith without having made a real dedication. It does seem remarkable that even a mere student of Jehovah's Witnesses can easily refute most anti-Witness nonsense.

Good question. A number of apostates in this forum (one in particular) spend their time attacking their fellow brothers and sisters.

A few individuals have left our ranks, and some among them are bent on defaming Jehovah’s Witnesses by spreading lies and misinformation. A few work with other groups in organized resistance to pure worship. In doing so, they side with the very first apostate, Satan.

Some apostates are increasingly using various forms of mass communication, including the Internet, to spread false information about Jehovah’s Witnesses. As a result, when sincere individuals do research on our beliefs, they may stumble across apostate propaganda.

When I reply to apostate misinformation, I NEVER address that person directly. Instead, my words are directed to those who might be deceived by such lies. Of course, the best way of doing this is in the door-to-door ministry.

Associating, and talking to, are two different things. If witnesses were not supposed to talk to apostate's, how could they (the apostate's) be witnessed to.
