The benefits of the Atonement of Jesus Christ are available to all who ever lived on the earth, including those who lived before Christ's mortal ministry. If people didn't have an opportunity to learn of Christ during mortal life, they will have the opportunity in the world of spirits.

The following quote from Peter, Christ's chief apostle, mentions that Christ taught in the spirit world.

1st Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Not my decision, but here's my opinion...

They are with God because they believed in him and accepted his forgiveness for their sins. That method only worked for a short time then people started sinning and not worrying about forgiveness or what God thought...so he chose a group of people and gave them specific and detailed instructions for avoiding mistakes that would ultimately separate them from God...and that worked for a while and then even that group of people started sinning and not worrying about what God thought...so he sent his son so that all would be able to accept that he loved us and wanted to be with us no matter what bad choices we had made!

When Jesus said he was the only way to God, did he mean himself specifically or the forgiveness he offered? When he said no man comes to the father but through me did he mean that all people had to be a "christian" to get to heaven or was he merely saying that he was the gatekeeper for his father's house and that eventually everyone would realize that he told the truth when he was on earth? Personally, I think Adam and Eve DID know Jesus as did many of the other people in the Old Testament who knew God...didn't Jesus say that he and the Father were one? Jesus didn't die so God could forgive us, he died so we could forgive ourselves enough to accept God's forgiveness!

Good question.

Paul talks about the justification of the pre-Christian patriarchs in Romans 9 and 10. For any of the Israelites who followed God and kept God's commandments, Paul believes they are justified in Christ, since Christ was the embodiment of the Old Testament law and code that the Israelites (then God's chosen people) were bound to obey to remain in covenant with God.

Different denominations debate on what happens to people who have not heard the Christian message TODAY... it's an interesting theological discussion, but I wouldn't bore you with it too much.

P.S. Mine's not the only answer... Future's Inc's answer above is a valid argument...

The Bible doesn't say whether or not they accepted Jesus. Having spoken with God in the garden, I believe that they did.

Here's a great link if you want to know more about Adam and Eve

How do you know that they didn't accept Jesus?

I think they are in heaven. While they did sin when they ate the fruit, they repented. Jesus died for our sins. They were good people!

or you may desire to blame the only that positioned the forbidden tree there, and then enable 2 dumb people who have been virtually like newborns walk around in each single place. in spite of each little thing, God is meant to be omniscient, and so he could have popular that it became going to happen, and for this reason he would have stopped it. although, there is one greater selection: you may desire to blame a conversing snake.

God told Adam and Eve that they would die if they disobeyed him and eat of the fruit of which God told them not to eat of. He told Adam he will return to the dust. Adam was supposed to live forever on the earth. Why would anyone think that after he disobeyed God, he would be rewarded with life everlasting in heaven?

The Devil said they would not die.
----------
Gen 3:1-5
3 Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: “Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?” 2 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.”

Gen 3:17-19  And to Adam he said: “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and took to eating from the tree concerning which I gave you this command, ‘You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground on your account. In pain you will eat its produce all the days of your life. 18 And thorns and thistles it will grow for you, and you must eat the vegetation of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”
-----------------------
Now why would you think they are alive?

They are in the grave of mankind, dead.

Stick with what the Bible says, and avoid the explanations that do not make sense and contradict what is written in the Bible.
