theres an old saying that goes something like this:
a man wants to be a woman's first lover, while a woman wants to be a man's last love.
..basically, men dont want to be with a woman whos been around. its their stuff.. they dont like the idea that she may compare them to her previous partners. they want a woman who they can be young again with, and teach and nurture. men are very insecure creatures, worried that they're not as good as the next bloke to walk along.. if their first, they're guaranteed a top spot in the rankings =]
women however aren't too fussed about being first. they like the idea that a man has been with millions of woman and still chosen them to settle down with... if a bloke has screwed around a few times in the past he'll [in theory] be ready to settle down and spend the rest of his life with the woman of his dreams.
its less the perceptions that different genders give out thats the problem, and more the people that they want to be.
women want to be the woman of a man's dreams, "the one" worth tying down to. they want security and stability, they're not too fussed if the blokes been around, as long as he remains faithful here on in.
men however arent too fussed about this, and all they want is a nice bird to shag who will adore them for being their first. they want to be the trusted one, the one whos worthy of a woman's virginity.
therefore, men get away with shagging around, yet a woman is classed as a whore if she does the same.
odd stuff eh? =]

I disagree somewhat with that statement. I put it into the category as all women seem to like are "Bad boys".
Think of it this way. If you are not a lady who sleeps around a lot and you met a guy that you might have an interest in. Then found out he has slept around with lots and lots of ladies. Wouldn't you start to think that he was a player and didn't care about any of them. Which is probably the correct assumption about him. So I am assuming that most women who are not looking for a player would pass. Am I correct?
The same goes for ladies. It is a question of what the guy is looking for. I think most men want someone about equal to who they are. Whether that is a player who sleeps around a lot. Or a lady that might have a little experience but not with every guy she has met. To even a lady who is a virgin.
I think it just depends on each of the peoples choices.
Anyways I hope this made sense and helped.

Well, i don't condone "whorish" behavior on either a male or female's part. It's just an unfortunate part of culture where men seem to have been given the right to get away with sleeping around without being called names the way girls are. The other thing is that men aren't calling their buddies whores every time they have a one night stand, whereas often times girls are critical of one another for their sexual behavior. I don't think it's right that girls seem to get criticized or insulted for their sexual behavior, but it's just sort of the way things have played out, and the simple fact that men and women look at those things differently. It's certainly not the man's fault that women get called whores, as often times its a jealous female calling another female a whore when she's getting some. Nobody's responsible here, i think it's simply become part of human nature for most people to behave and respond in that way to females rather than males. Men act like men, ladies act like ladies. I don't think it's right that that type of criticism happens, but that's just the truth in why thats the way things are.

just because you sleep with other men doesnt mean you are whor*e it means you have a healthy sex life and men dont think about what they get up to or about the girl they sleep with or what could happen after but most girls do

I can answer that! Its not a nice answer but at least I know its the truth...I had a discussion about that exact topic in College. It started with the first so-called "Ho". When this lady had so many partners her box became really loose and it became very hard for even extremely well endowed men to get off, so men started using this kind of sign as a reference. Guys, as you well know, dont change in size or become looser with the more partners they have. So the loose ones are considered the
W H O R E S and the tight ones are the keepers! I know thats a sick answer but its the truth as men see it!

It stems from the belif that guys are supposed to court the woman. So, if a guy sleeps with a lot of girls, he's supposingly skilled at making women feel special. However, if the reverse happens, people assume that the woman isn't special, since it seems almost man can make her feel special.
Or, so I assume the thinking goes.

I think you should have opened this one up to the guys only... LOL... that is a really good questioned. IDK... I wish I had the answer to that... maybe it's just the old adage of the men vs. women, double standard.
But, it's really know diff. than why we call men dogs... I think wh*ore is a more defaming word though. However, Webster's definition of whore is that of the following:
1 : a woman who engages in sexual acts for money : PROSTITUTE; also : a promiscuous or immoral woman
2 : a male who engages in sexual acts for money
3 : a venal or unscrupulous person
So, really, we can call men whores too, but if no money is involved the term is really being used incorrectly. :) IDK... the world, people are mean and unscrupulous.

This is really rather simple:
Men can have sex for sex's sake. They can do it WITHOUT HAVING ANY EMOTIONAL FEELINGS FOR THE WOMAN WHATSOEVER. It's simply a matter of getting laid and getting that "release."
Men can honestly feel that they don't love their wife or girlfriend any less. They just had some random sex... yes, like a dog.
Men (whether right or wrong) believe that women have FEELINGS for any guys that they have sex with. The perceived emotional ties are what piss a guy off, and result in the ol' double standard/

Because we don't label them as one. If we start labelling them as that, treating them bad, ignoring them, looking the other way when they come in a room, talking about them disrespectfully all those things that are done to a ho, then they will be one too. If we don't do that to them, they arent one. They aren't going to call themselves one.
Put it this way, next time your friend sleeps with a guy and you go to call her a ho cause your jealous, hold your tongue and call HIM a ho.
In fact, you should get together with your buds and all try and f*ck the same guy. THEN call him a ho. Thats what guys do. Go where its easiest. Plus then you and your friends are all on the same page, noones jealous etc. you see how it works?
Immediately after you find out your friend got with him, you will lose respect for him completely and then start calling him a ho and ignoring him.
