NASCAR should for the fans.
NASCAR won't for the money.
Ban any new tracks over 1 1/2 miles. Turn the 2 mile cookie cutter tracks into parking lots for shorter tracks.

with all the hype from eldora and tony stewarts foundation is getting, someone will eventually look at a dirt track again, especially if the charity race continues to grow. the cost of start up for a dirt track versus conventinal is way less. knowing mike helton and the boys they'll do anything to make a buck. the only downside to it is that it will make everyone remember the old days and how fun it was back then and nascar might think that isn't politically correct and vote against it

Hi,
I can't see them doing that. The cars they have now wouldn't be able to run on dirt. They aren't built that way. Even if they would I doubt NASCAR would race on dirt because then they would have to spend a lot of money making dirt cars and that is the last thing NASCAR is trying to do at this point. They are doing very well with just asphalt tracks!

That would be super. The sport was born on dirt and most of the drivers started on dirt.
ARCA runs a couple of races on dirt (Springfield and DuQuoin) each year and several of the cup drivers have run the events in the past couple of years.
Ken Schrader will run the "Allen Crowe 100" on Sunday August 19 at Springfield Illinois.

ummmm....before all the paved tracks, I mean concrete, asphalt, etc...what do you guys think that Nascar was racing on? Half of the original Daytona track was run on the beach! Will Nascar ever get back to racing events for the Cup, Busch or Truck series on dirt? I doubt it, however I could see it happeneing.

I think Kentucky should be a host to a Nascar Nextel Cup race. Why not? They are everywhere else. Kentucky has many big events there and they have the Kentucky Derby. I think they have enough people and supporters to have a race there. I live in Indiana and we have one here. Many people look forward to our Brickyard race.

NASCAR has evolved so much in the last few years, why would they want to regress back to dirt? Obviously you have no idea how those dirt tracks really tear up the cars. I know. I raced them.
Tony Stewart helps pay my paycheck. I work at Home Depot so I guess I'm predjudiced.

It would be cool if they put some nice dirt tracks here and there but they would never do it. Remember, they are all about making the big money and small tracks for them is petty cash.

I know they did run dirt in the 60s I'd rather see dirt races than road courses any day

As much as I would love to see that... I doubt it... the cars are way too heavy & would tear up a dirt track.
Though I know drivers like Tony & Carl would be one of the 1st to sign up for that race!!
