it's a common misconception that absinthe gets you high, acts as a hallucinogen, etc. yes, it USED to, but that's going back a couple of centuries when the psychoactive ingredient, wormwood, was at ridiculously high levels in the drink, and the drink itself was known as "la faire verte", or the green fairy. it was blamed for the rising number of people admitted to mental hospitals in paris, and was banned. it has since been regulated so the amount of wormwood would do considerably less damage to you than the alcohol content in it. however, the wormwood only becomes psychoactive if you drink it "properly" through soaking a sugarcube in it, lighting the sugarcube, holding it over the glass, letting the caramelised sugar drip in, then stirring the rest in before putting it out with cold water. just chugging a shot? you'll get drunk and have a bad hangover. drugs tests? noooo problem!

There are no drugs nor any other illegal substances in absinthe. The law about absinthe only concerns making and selling it. There's nothing in the laws about drinking or possessing it. In fact, even those laws are getting looser considering that there is a brand being legally sold in the US: Lucid.

I think that the drink that you´re refering to is a bright green liquid. If I´m right, it´s absinthe and it´s illegal in the U.S. because it is a hallucinagen.... so to answer your question it doesn´t contain a drug, it is a drug! (but really the reason it´s so dangerous is that it´s more like a poison, so unless you want severe kidney and liver damage I wouldn´t drink it, it´s not like throwing back a couple of shots of vodka or whiskey! I speak from personal experience!

well first off..i thought absinthe was pretty illegal in the us..and second it has wormwood in it and that's what makes you hallucinate...or it could make you feel like you've smoked a whole bunch of weed..but I'm guessing it would show up on a drug test...

Wormwood will NOT show up on a drug test...
To show up in a test it needs to be one of five things
Cannabinoids
Opiates
Cocaine
Barbituates
Amphetamines
Since it is not one of those five, you are in the clear

The drink is called absinthe, and no, it does not contain any drugs. It is herb-based.

no, it is plant based, and wormwood won't show up. most absinthe now doesn't even have real wormwood in it. just do it in moderation, it's nothing to play with.
