We moved to this nice community 2 years ago. We even did not settle in and had problems with neighbors already. First was our little yorki, which did not know where property borders yet, went on their driveway to greet them . He always does it when somebody comes. We did not notice that. Then she started srcreaming that she will call the police on us and cursing on yorki. We thought that it is something wrong with them, even we had no chance yet to introduce ourselves. Then our radio. We had it on around 11 am, and they screamed that it is too loud and they are going to call the police. We turned it off, and since then we avoided them. In some time later we apologized for our dog and decided to install invisible fence.
Instead they showed us the property line, which we can not trespass. We realized that they are really unfriendly.
Now the problem is our cat. They scream that he kills the birds.
There is no evidence that he does it and are these birds private? Please, help us !!!

You are responsible for your dog. Even though he is causing no real harm. The neighbors don't want the dog on their property and that is their right. For your dog's sake, keep him on your side. No telling what they might do.
As for you bird killing cat. As long as it isn't eating their parakeet there isn't much that can be done. Cats hunt. To some its not pleasant but, thats what they do. If they are wild birds they aren't owned.
There are ordinances about dogs in almost every community. Violations can get you fined and if repeated often enough, your dog can be taken. If they don't want the cat in their yard there are repelents they can get. It is almost impossible to keep an outside cat from going where he wants. Your neighbors sound like real gems, I feel for you. Just keep an eye on kitty. Poisoning the cat does not seem beyond them.
For your radio, check the towns noise ordinances.
Most places have a start and finish time. You do have neighbors and you have a right to listen to your music. Common courtesy is always the best rule, from both sides. If you are blasting music at concert levels, yeah you're going to have complaints.

These really sound like unfriendly people but maybe they have been "burned" by bad neighbors in the past. It is better to do as you seem to be doing by staying above their petty complaints.

I would preempt them with the police. You should go to the local police station, introduce yourself and explain to them the problems you are having with your neighbors. Ask them for suggestions. They deal will all kinds of disputes.
They will also tell you what the 'official' rules are for animal control in your community.

If you are not un-neighborly, then the problem is with them. Do not let them ruin your home. Avoid them, be extremely nice to them (this is for your benefit, not theirs) when you do have contact with them. Model good behavior and maybe they will give up harrassing you.

Good luck!

your neighbors can not infringe upon your rights if you aren't doing anything that is within reason. it sounds as if you are just fine. your dog can run lose in your property you can play your music so long as it can't be heard half way down the street and your cat if he is killing birds is allowed to do that as well if these are not their pets. but i would not let your cat kill wild birds as they can be disease ridden
