In terms of mileage how long are Mahatten Blocks and Avenues. Just wondering due to my commute this morning?

Above 14th St ,the basic rule of thumb is 20 blocks to a mile up & downtown & 5 blocks to a mile crosstown.
Below 14th St it's really hard to determine distance and in Manhattan, unless you're walking ,distance has no meaning anyway

I read 800 feet between Avenues and 100 feet between blocks - but that applies to Midtown where Manhattan is at is widest.

where is this ''Mahatten" or do you mean "Manhattan" ???? ??
