there was no road markings and no signs up but I'm not naive enough to think that they haven't got me by the balls on some technicality or whatever, however I'm not going to make it easy on them, so what's the worst they can do, because I may just let them do it!

LMFAO. I've got to agree with you on the sheep bit. As for your parking fine there's very little they can do especially as there was no road markings or signs. My advice.......screw the fockers and let them whistle. This government gets enough from us without us without resorting to neo-nazi tactics.

They can impound your car, confiscate it and even crush it in their council crushing machine, right in front of your house, with all the neighbours looking on.
My advice, just pay the fine and get on with it.
Don't give these bastards the satisfaction.
Don't laugh! I saw the car crushing thing on TV. A couple went on holiday, left their car parked in their usual space outside their house. A parking space they had paid the council for by the way. While they were away on holiday, their road tax ran out. No problem in the world of the sane, because a new tax disc will be put on soon as poss etc.
No. All un-taxed cars apparently were being crushed that month. And so it happened. The couple returned to find their car gone. No one knew what had dunnit! Eventually, several days later and three thousand phone calls, they found out it was the council what dunnit!
BEWARE!

if its a council issued ticket the following can happen:-
After 14 days from issue, fine goes up by £30. Thereafter it goes up £30 every 14 days. 28 days after non-payment a notice to owner is sent to registered keeper. 14 days after that a charge certificate is sent out. 14 days after that bailiffs are sent round, usually adding bailiffs fees of around £250 to the original charges. Also, some councils will now take you to county courts, where judgements affect your credit rating, and they can also make a deduction from benefits order, or if you do not appear they issue an arrest warrant. You can also have your car towed away, and if you have a habit of not paying tickets some councils register you as 'persistent evader' meaning that the next time you get a ticket your car gets removed instead of just a ticket and you have to pay the original fine as well as impound and removal fees to get it back.
If its a police issued ticket, you get taken to court for non payment of fines and can get put in prison for this

It depends upon the municipality but generally a judge can issue a bench warrant and have you arrested for failure to appear in court, contempt of court and/or payment of a ticket.
In some areas they may adversely affect your credit by reporting the nonpayment to the various credit reporting agencies.
If you weren't so self defensive I'd suggest you respectfully show up in court with photographs of the site where you received the ticket, calmly and rationally make your point to the judge and request that he throw out the ticket.
However, given your apparently offensive nature it would probably be best if you shut up and simply pay the ticket or be prepared to spend a night, or more, in jail. If you tick off the judge or magistrate they can also charge you with contempt and sentence you to further jail time.

You could have a warrant issued for your arrest if you don't pay the ticket and do not show up at court. They could tow your car. I've even heard of some towns starting to use collection agencies. If that happens then the collections goes on your credit and they may even put a lien against you. The phone calls alone would be enough for me to pay the ticket.

If you want to fight the ticket, go to court and fight it, but if you decide to just ignore it, that could be viewed as an admission of guilt and fines could rack up repeatedly and eventually a warrant could be issued for your arrest meaning you could be taken to jail any time a cop runs your license and then spend a night in jail and stay until you pay the jacked up fines. Good thing writing a run-on sentence isn't illegal.

The fine if unpaid will eventually lead to a knock on the door by the bailiffs, they will hand the debt over to the collection company to recover. The collection company or bailiffs also need to be paid so they could end up ransacking your house to the tune of hundreds of pounds. You can't win and it's their job to get as much as they can.

Our department will send it to the court to issue a summons to appear in court. You could then fight it. I would speak to an attorney about fighting it and or let the police know that you want to challenge the ticket, don't just let it go. They could issue a warrant if you don't show for court on it. This is in OH.

Depending where you live.
File a civil law suit against you for collections
Negative ding on your credit rating.
Suspend your drivers license.
Boot and impound your car holding it hostage until you pay the ticket, plus boot removal fee, plus towing fee, plus storage fee.
It is not going to just go away... do the smart thing, take it to court or fight it... don't just not pay it. You won't be happy later.

First of all, you can challenge it if you dont agree with it. Secondly if the ticket was rightly issued and you dont pay it the fine will increase and you may end up having to go to court(last resort).
