Sounds like they are just excited to have a friend with a dad that they can get free stuff from, so they are getting carried away. It is childish and ridiculous!
On a brighter note, I guess it could count as your wedding gift to them though! Take a photo of the items and stick it in a nice card for them with your signature and your dad's. Saves you buying them something!
Then, enjoy the weird wedding!!

Its not a bad idea to have something like this to occupy the children of those attending the wedding - a great distraction during the reception!
However, pay close attention to rule #1 - Don't mix business and friendships. I would tell my best friend in the world if he and his fiance asked for somethinig like this, that they would have to do the whole rental agreement contract thing, but maybe at a discounted price. And then I'd give them a gift that made up the difference and then some.
When people ask for something free, they'll treat it like it was worthless. What will end up happening is some "adults" will get in it and tear it up, then the newlyweds will act all offended if you ask them to pay for the damages - UNLESS they have signed a rental agreement. They'll still give you the cold shoulder afterwards.
Do it, but have them sign an agreement and pay a deposit like anyone else would have to do.

They are planning a kiddie party not a wedding party and i would tell them i am sorry but my dad has the above named items rented out on that day and then dont let them have it. i have never ever heard of a cotton candy machine at a wedding but to each its own i guess...

a jumper is just weird. a cotton candy machine isn't so far out, and could actually be kinda cool (if not used like a cotton candy machine at a carnival with 50 kids behind it with dirt on their faces and ice cream dripping down their shirts). its still kind of wierd though. ask them why they think they should get these things free, and tell her she hasn't been THAT good of a friend to you lately.

Okay, I can see why you are a little on the anoyed side. The bride and groom are young so naturally they would want things that scream young. A jumper is very childish unless there are going to be a lot of children in attendance who would otherwise be board. Expecting to get it all for free that is not childish, that is just presumptuious, not to mention plain rude.
The thing I find most childish is you. An adult would talk to their friend and tell her she needs some help. A child will make plans not be be her friend anymore. just a though.

I think it's cute-I wouldn't mind going into a jumper and eating cotton candy, and I'm 38! They should not expect to get this for free, though. It should be paid for, just like if they were hiring any other vendor.

It's their wedding, so it's not stupid or childish, as long as they like it.
The part where they want it for free is not stupid or childish, either. They are not stupid, nor childish, they are just rude and inconsiderate.Weddings are expensive, but that doesn't mean that they get to mooch off people. If I were you, I consider using the services for free their wedding gift.

I think it's a pretty cool idea actually. It's fun and everyone will probably enjoy it, as long as they come prepared for a jumping castle. It's a grown-up party, everyone has a little of that desire to go jump in the jumping castle, but they'll look weird among the kids... Now the kids will look weird among the adults. Muhaha!
Just let it be and have fun, don't judge them if that's what they want.

It is original and sounds like fun to me and I am in my 30's. There are too many boring stuffy weddings happening. Why not make an original fun day. And who doesnt like fairy floss? Anyways have you thought they could be catering entertainment for guests with children, instead of choosing to have a no kid wedding, they might be having a kids more than welcome wedding.
Sounds cool whatever they are doing....

If they want it, I don't see a problem with that. The only real problem I see with it is that they don't want to pay. Now THAT'S greedy and childish.
If jumpers and cotton candy machines are their idea of a good time, I don't see who that would be hurting. It wouldn't be my preference, but I don't have any problem with it.
But if they want it so badly, they should be prepared to pay for it. It's rude to expect people to give their goods and services for free just because you'd like them.
