Acts 1 25 Judas went to his own place. The implication is that it is not a place for good guys.
Much has been speculated about Judas. Some even say that he was the natural son of Jesus and it was he that was actually crucified, leaving Jesus to escape and eventually die at Masada
He was known as Iscariot. A gang of zealots who carried daggers with the vowed intent of dispatching Romans. It was he, not Levi the tax collector, who was treasurer for the group. He occasionally helped himself to the funds
Others suggest that he had seen Jesus extricate himself from dangerous situations and probably thought he could get some easy money
What may have sparked him off was the comment Jesus made to pay to God what was due to God and to Caesar what is due to Caesar, as being a compromise unworthy of a leader who was going to crush the might of Rome and re establish the glory of Solomon.
Anyway, once he saw, what happened, he was filled with remorse, flung the thirty pieces of silver on the floor of the temple treasury and hanged himself.
He was an Apostle, therefore chosen. The scripture was that Christ would be betrayed by a friend, and it was fulfilled. The declaration is that 'he went to his own place' Exactly what that is, is unknown. It need not necessarily be hell, and by implication it certainly isn't heaven.
The general concepts of the age are employed by the bible as to where departed souls go. Jesus himself used illustrations like Gehenna, which apparently was the municipal tip, noted for continual fires and devouring worms. Some people will be cast into the outer darkness where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. For others the blackness of darkness is reserved.
What is certain is that any whose name is not written in the Lamb's book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire.
We can only concur with Abraham when he said, 'Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right'.

This is a question I have personally wrestled with for years. I always felt that Judas hanging himself was his way of repenting, but I no longer think that way.
If you look at the original 12 disciples, he was the only one not from Galilee.
He sat at the head of the table with Jesus and John at the last supper. We know this because he was within arms reach when he passed him the sop.
Judas saw Jesus's miracles daily. He saw him evade his captors many times. It is my suspicion he thought Jesus would evade them again and it would be no big deal. However, when he was in fact taken in Gethsemane, he tried to take the money back.
His mind was not changed, he just didn't want to be responsible. The fact he hung himself is, in essence, a proof that he didn't believe in Jesus. Peter betrayed Jesus three separate times and was forgiven, and became the rock of the church. Judas, who didn't trust in the forgiveness, convicted himself and is burning in hell today.
I wish I felt differently. How miserable it must be for him knowing how close he was to Jesus, and yet how badly he missed his message.

NO- Jesus did know that Judas would betray Him, and yes, someone had to do it- but Judas is not in heaven. You ask why? Because He did not come to Jesus and ask Him to forgive him. Jesus would have, and Judas would have been in heaven. When Peter denied Jesus 3 times, he too could have been in hell, however Peter came to Jesus and repented. That is the difference.

Judas was not one of the good guys. He betrayed Jesus for virtually nothing.

yes, everything is planned. Jesus knew HE would be betrayed and said it in the Last Supper.Peter disowned Him , but asked for His forgiveness, so he got it. Judas reported His whereabouts and got paid for it. he cannot be forgiven. he is rotting in earth, waiting for the Day of Judgement when he will be the first to be thrown into the Fire to remain there eternally.

i no, its terrible isnt it. Making his kids friend betray him, some father.
Watch Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar, there's a bit in there where Judas is asking the same thing.
My mind is darkness now
My god I am sick
I've been used
And you knew
All the time
God I'll never ever know
Why you chose me for your crime
For your foul bloody crime
You have murdered me!
You have murdered me!
Oh yeah, and after saying that he goes and hangs himself, i dont no if thats what happens in the bible, but it makes a pretty big impact in the film.

Judas was phobic, drawn to the man he was compelled to destroy. That internal conflict can drive a man quite mad. I won't render judgement on a madman...

"judge not lest ye be judged." I think that goes for Judas as well, so I don't suppose to guess where he went.
