Yeah, tehy make up their own words... Nobody knows what they're saying so whats the point. In ACTS the disciples speak in tongues but only because it assists them in reachin g the people around them who speak different languages, not just as a parlor trick.

That all depends on the person I would suppose.

Some doctors did testing on people while they were speaking in tongues and the doctor's results were that the people genuinely did not have any control over their speech while in speaking in tongues.

But again, I think it definitely depends on the person!

This talking in tongues business is obviously some ploy to justify the psychological denigration that is the result of practising christianity.. when in fact what has happened is these people have turned into babbling idiots, christianity purports some holiness to their rantings.. brain dead morons...its what Geezas wanted ..

my understanding of the actual bible quotes is that speaking in tounges was the ability to speak a language one had not learned and did not know, therefore it is classed as miraculous and a gift of the spirit.
taking into account the passage in the book of acts this couldn't be clearer from where i'm standing,it's the ability to relate the gospel to foreigners whose languages the apostles couldn't speak and spread the news of jesus.
babbling on like a toddler is NOT tounges as recorded in the bible,it is a bit of mad hysteria.
the speech is an actual language, not just some bloke jabbering on and has to be confirmed as such.

no- no idea at all--but God does.

I am a Christian --and we do NOT speak in tongues---but I was at a conference not long ago--and I was praying REALLY with my heart to God, and I spoke in tongues---------and I haven't since.

I don't know if God wanted to show me something, or what,
but it took me to a higher level of spirituality.
There IS such a thing a tongues.
The TRUE speakers of tongues do NOT know what they are saying.
