Hey, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is only 5'6"ish.
T.R. Knight of "Grey's Anatomy" is 5'7"
George Lucas is 5'6"
Edward Furlong is 5'6.5"
Michael J. Fox, I think, is about 5'5"
I'm about 5' short myself, just a bit taller than Nikki Blonsky, the young woman in the new version of "Hairspray" and also the rapper Lil Kim (she's 4'10", 4'11").

Listen I am 6'2".
Being tall used to be good for looking over a crowd, but there are more and more tall people.
Don't get me wrong. I love being tall. But there are times when the head gets banged by open cupboards. That ain't fun.
I can not work in tight places. If I wanted to get involved working on machines I would get cramped. I had to go call another technician who was 5'6". He fit in the space just perfectly.
There are short football and basketball players. And they play every bit as well as the tall guys.
Napoleon Bonaparte was a short guy. He ruled France and had a beautiful lover, Marie-Antoinette.
So, love the size you are.

Just knowing that peoples expectations of you will be lower as a result of your height (not by much in your case you're only 2 inches off regulation) will allow you to take people by surprise by surpassing those taller than average.
I'm 5'5" on a bad hair day.
I tell people at job interviews that what wil set me apart is not my ability alone but my willingness to use ALL of it.
thats where most people of height lose it. they think they get to a point where they've done enough and it may be only half of what they can do but everyone does the same so its accepted. they may be stronger than you by 10 percent in reality but since they never work to capacity you don't know.
the chances are you CAN do better than most of your co workers choose to. but once you make that extra step you have raised the bar for yourself. You must maintain that level or greater. You have to ask yourself is there anything in it for you at the end of it?

I'm currently writing a paper on beauty in America and I mentioned this issue in it. (I mentioned how Trya Banks' judging panel on Americas Next Top Model constantly reminds the short girls of their height (weight etc.) hence, putting a negative emphasis on the fact that they are different) IT IS OKAY TO BE SHORT! Its not a flaw. It does not affect your talent(s) nor does it affect your personality! Dont be a victim of the media. Guys have to deal with the media also (even though women have it 80 times worse) Ignore the mocho and tall men on tv and in magazines. That is not what the average American man looks like. You are beautiful just the way you are. We are all equally different so who's to say we are not all equally beautiful as well? Be yourself, love yourself, & embrace all of your physical features :)

Well, there have been some attractive short guys. Think of Tom Cruise, for example. Not only that, but as a woman, I can honestly say that a guy's height isn't the main thing I think about. Also, think of it this way. You're not exactly Tattoo from "Fantasy Island".
