I'm going to college next year and I fear that I won't be able to stay fit or eat healthy because I have a bad knack for pigging out on junk food. It really takes a toll on me, however, because I end up feeling sluggish and zapped of energy the next day. Does anyone have any good tips on how I can get exercise and eat right so I won't gain the freshman 15, or worse...the freshman 50??

When I was a freshman, I noticed that I gained weight when I didn't eat enough every day. When the homework load was really heavy I didn't get enough time to go down and eat. Let's face it though, the dorm food isn't the best. If you have family nearby, go in an eat a meal with them once a week if possible.

Your body breaks the same foods down in the same way, so if you eat the same thing for breakfast every day, change it up, then you won't be eating more over all. It's really easy to get into the habit of eating the same thing every day because its quick and you get into the routine.

Also, if your campus has a campus bus that picks up students and drops them off to classes, avoid taking this, walk to class, or go out of your dorm and study that way you are getting in more exercise. It's not much but it adds up in the long run.

Make sure you have a mini fridge or something like fruits in your dorm. I took extra fruit from downstairs in the dorm cafeteria and brought into my room to have a healthy snack in my room if I got hungry later.

well im in the same boat as you... (im going off to school next year also as a freshman!) well there are gyms and in my case i will get "dorm food" which wont be too bad.. especially since im going to a ~private school~ haha since its your first year and your first semester you shouldnt overload yourself with hard classes and all.. you should make a easy schedule so you can get adjusted to the environment.. which gives you more time to work out and.. well yeah
im pretty sure the school will always provide fruits in each meal so you can get some of those
gl and have fun at your school!

You need an exercise program that fits in every day ... no breaks ... no hassles.

Figure out how many push-ups you can do max.

Do half that number of push-ups everyday 5 times a day.

Once a week retest your progress and see how many you can do maximum.

Vary your hand widths ... wider hand widths work the arms more, narrower the hand width the chest is worked more.

get a small refrigerator for your dorm room and keep healthy snacks in it. you'll be walking a lot between classes and the dorm and cafeteria, so you probably won't need a lot of other exercise. think before you put whatever food in your mouth.
