If your kid had a deadly disease and only stem cell research could help him would you use it to save your kids life or would you refuse it because you would think it kills an embryo???
What would you choose?
Would you let your kid die in the hope that god would heal him or would you finally accept the fact that stem cell research helped your kid therefore is good for everyone?
What would jesus do?

Well, in fairness Jesus would probably lay hands on the child and heal them.

Honest answer: I don't know what I would do. I could go either way on this.

Jesus would use his gifts and heal the child without the embryonic stem cell research.

Stem cell research is good WHEN it is adult stem cells or stem cells from the umbilical cord. It's not so good when a embro unwillingly gets sacrificed.

Personally, I've seen first hand the "Frankensteins" doctors create. Popular trend is doctors leap before thinking about the ramnifications. I'm all for science, medicine, and progress ... but I'm also for careful consideration. Being careful, I would want to get many other opinions from other doctors around the world. Should this be the "last" option ... I would have to forgo it and get my child the "Anointing of the Sick" and pray.

Well, the answer to your last question is Jesus would've just healed the child without any need for stem cells.

As far as how do I feel about it? I wouldn't want a fetus grown and harvested specifically for that purpose, but if you had a fetus that was created, and was going to be aborted (something I don't personally agree with but is perfectly legal), you may as well use what you have and what you can to make the best of it.

In my view, it's like organ donation which is something I fully support. I wouldn't want someone to be born just so I could use them for spare parts, but if the spare parts are available because of other reasons, why not utilize them?

Hopefully that makes sense.

I have no problems with stem cell research. What I *do* have a problem with - however - is creating, harvesting and killing embryos just for the stem cells when there are other ways to get them (umbilical chords, bone marrow, etc).

I wouldn’t know until I was put in that situation, however, I do know for certain that I would pray very hard and even enlist prayer warriors (that’s what we call the elderly prayers’ who have lots of wisdom :-)) to pray with my family and for my child.

I also don’t believe that man can every tell anybody that only one thing can save someone’s life as man did not create life and therefore can only speculate and or make a man made educated guess. I work in the naturopathic medicine and I can’t tell you how many times I have witnessed a doctor telling patient there legs had to be amputated and that patient seeking hyperbaric treatment and never having to have anything amputated; or a patient being told they only have 3 months to live and two years later they are still here.

My point being Western Medicine is not the only answer. Before I give in to anybody’s speculation, I would take it to GOD!

1) Prove that stem cell research COULD help him.
2) Prove that ONLY stem cell research could help him.

Until then, your question has no validity.

ALL Christians are not against stemm cell research. I am very much in favor of it.
I will never understand why some of you people cannot comprehend that not ALL Christians are fundamentalists. Not all of us are Pro-life. Not all of us are against stem cell research.
Not all of us are "anti-Science."
Please try to get it straight.
Thanks!

Jesus wouldn't stand in the way of any research. If Jesus were here (and he is) he's teach us to love.

In case you don't care for the (and he is) part "as you do to the least of these you do also to me" tells us that Christ lives in all of us to the extent we are willing to Love. Love being Gods most serious commandment to humans.

♥Blessed Be♥

You do realize they can now get stem cells from bone marrow, right? Amazing. I have no problem with stem cell research as long as babies aren't killed for it. They can get stem cells from placenta also, but it seems the bone marrow type is more useful.

Jesus would not kill someone so another could live. He would sooner give his own life.
