Where I live and work there are three gates to a 200 acre priavte estate. One is pedestrain only, one has not been used since 1950s, and the other is for cars.
Anyone following SatNav directions gets sent to one of the first two, which is no use at all.
How do I change it so that vehicles are directed in the vehicle entrance? Is it a Royal Mail problem, or Sat Nav? Does all the data for SatNav come from one source?
Its inconvenient now, but there could be an emergency situation one day...Thanks

Put a note on the first two gates directing traffic to the proper one. In an emergency, tell them when you call in to ignore the SatNav and where to go when you call it in.

Probably at some time the pedestrian gate was the main entrance, and that's the data the satnav maps hold. They won't be updated for every little change, and users have to pay for the new maps, so you will have to live with the problem. The post code of course relates to the walking postman, so your address is via the pedestrian route. You could try a different last digit on the post code to see if that directs to another point.

If you are giving directions to someone, you can give them the coordinates of the correct gate. However, if it's a problem with maps used by mail service and others, then there's not much you can do. You can send an error report online to both Navteq and TeleAtlas (the two major map providers for GPS units) but the maps won't be undated very soon.

Maybe a simple sign on the incorrect gates directing to the correct gate?

Does your sat nav have the option of an Update. You may need toget an update installed to include any new developments.
