I don't. I'm not arrogant to claim that I can understand the Bible and interpret the meanings of what's writtin there.

People tend to APPLY, which is different than interpret, scripture based on what they want to hear or believe.
People also tend to not be comfortable with ambiguity, they want a definitive answer, even if there isn't one in the Bible, and so they tend to project an answer.
Seldom do people read scripture and as a result go through a massive change. They tend to apply it to their lives as their lives currently are, rather than respond by changing their lives.
They filter the scripture through them, rather than allow themselves to be filtered through the scripture.
Personally, I read the Bible and radically changed my life. I was baptized three years ago next week. I've been in seminary for a year and a half, I've been the pastor of a church for a month, and I'm radically following Christ, because that's what the Bible says to do.
Godspeed.

Let the Bible interpret itself. Usually by context and using other scriptures to see if your interpretation agrees with what the rest of the Bible says. By not leaning upon our own understanding, but letting other scriptures explain itself, you get the correct meaning.

That's the trick, isn't it? Once you throw out the literal translation, and because of stories like Noah we must, you have reduced reality to the subjective. That is, should you take the Bible as the holy text, which describes the very nature of reality.

One good way is to read the whole chapter and pray over the verses, asking the Lord to grant to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of Him. He does not just desire us to be saved only but to come to the full knowledge of the truth.
The Lord desires to grant us such a spirit of wisdom and revelation and we have a learning spirit which " KNOWS' all the deep riches of God. May we be renewed in the spirit of our mind to lay hold of all the vast dimensions of Christ.

It is not up to me to decide, it is up to the source, the Light of the world.
