Have you ever put a drop of blood into a glass of water? It turns the water pink. Two drops turns it even darker. By just five drops of blood, it appears that you have a glass full of blood.
Same idea with your period. It's not that much blood, it just looks like it. There is tissue, water, etc. Don't worry.
Here's what to watch for. It's what my doctor told me when I had surgery down there. If you fill up two heavy flow pads in two hours, then you need to go to the doctor. So, your mom is right. It may seem like a lot of blood, but just remember about the glass of water and how things can appear to be a lot worse than they actually are. If you don't believe me, try your own experiment with a glass of water and some red food coloring.

If you completely soak through a pad or tampon in less than an hour, you might want to call a nurse and ask advice.
I bleed too much. Women who bleed heavily are usually having hormone fluctuations.
After having a baby you have to practically sit on towels and you don't bleed to death even though you swear you will. So you will probably be ok.
My own doc doesn't doo much about it but he does test my blood, and since the bleeding keeps me pretty anemic he gives me iron tablets.
By the way being anemic makes you bleed more so if you don't eat well, that might be the problem.
Taking aspirin makes you bleed more, it is a blood thinner. But ibuprofin seems to help for some reason.

Not sure how long you've had your period, but mine were light for a long time, then suddenly the quantity of blood increased. It was pretty shocking the first time I had a really heavy flow.
I remember a doctor telling me that when you completely saturate three sanitary napkins or tampons in an hour, that constitutes hemorraging. Anything less than that is considered heavy flow.
If you're still really concerned, ask your mom to take you to the doctor.

Aww! Don't worry, hun! This is perfectly normal. You may have to get more iron in your diet though, because of the blood loss. :) You'll be okay! I bleed VERY heavily too sometimes, and yes, it can be a little freaky. You may feel a little tired, but that's normal, too. You're not going to die!
Take care!

Your so silly! :-) YOur gonna be fine, your not gonna die. You are allowing yourself to stress which can also be causing more bleeding. The more you bleed of of course can make you anemic and weak but that's perfectly normal. It will go away. The 3rd and 4th day is always the heaviest days for me, beleive me you'll slow down in the next couple of days.

It is not real unusual to have a "heavy flow" of blood during your period. Just use the MAXI pads and change them about once an hour, if necessary.
As you mature you will find your flow can vary from light to heavy on different days.
Ask your mom to take you for gynocology (gine a coll ogee) appointment. (Doctor for women's reproductive organs) Write down your questions for the Dr. to answer. The Dr. can assess if your heavy flow needs to be addressed, of if it is in the "normal" range.

Are you on any birth contraceptive? I'd say to simply tell your mother that you know how your periods normally are, and this is deifnitely not normal for you. If she still insists that its not, find a friend or other family member to take you to either a doctor or to one of those free clinics that give you birth control. They almost always have a gynocologist there is would be willing to help you, no matter your age, parent or no parent and of course they let you decide whether or not to tell your parents.

You're not going to die. It's all coming out of the same place where your menstrual cycle comes from. You will learn that some months you will have heavier periods than others. If you need to, you can use a tampon, plus a pad just to be safe. You're going to be ok, I promise.

You should be fine, as the others said. But, if it continues every month, you should talk to a physician. They may want to prescribe a low-dose birth control pill to control it.
