My daughter (5yrs) has had a100.00 fever for the last 2 days, but only in the early morning. The only symtom she has is being hot and tired. No coughing, vomiting etc. We give her meds and within 2 hours or so she feels better, wants to play, eats fine and has no fever for the rest of the day without taking any other meds! We thought she was better, but then this morning she had a fever again, and now its about noon and she's feeling fine. Is it ok to give her some meds and go ahead and send her to school tomorrow morning if she has a fever again? Or should we go with our orginal plan and keep her home but make a doctors appointment?

generally, they should be fever free (without meds) for 24 hours before going to school. WOuld you want someone doping their kid up with tylenol so their fever goes away and they feel perky and coming to school to infect your child?

And no, I wouldn't bother with a dr. visit for a 100 degree fever unless there was something else going on. Sometimes those just happen. Keep and eye on her though.

No dont send her to school...You might want to take her for a doctors appointment maybe she has Roseloa and then she can give it to the other kids at school

Roseola is one of the most common childhood infections. If your baby contracts roseola she will develop a sudden high fever but exhibit no other symptoms, and will not look or behave particularly sick. Three or four days later, the fever will break and only then the child will develop a rose-colored rash that may last several hours or several days. Roseola is spread by contact with the respiratory secretions of other infected children or adults. Although there are currently no laboratory tests to diagnose roseola and no treatment (besides fever management), you should always consult your pediatrician when symptoms appear.

Hope that helps...and I hope she gets well take care

It could be allergies with only a symptom of fever. If she has fever again tomorrow morning, you should get her to a doc. If within 3 days, it is not gone, always go to the doctor. You should wait 24 hours after her fever breaks for good before sending her to school. Many schools have this in the handbook as well. 24 straight hours of no fever before they are allowed to come back to school. Do not send her to school with fever at any time. They will just call you to come get her, and with her being out bc of the fever, they already know about it, and they could take more action against you for not following their rules and regulations.

I would take her to the doctor tomorrow and keep her home if she has a fever. A fever is a sign of infection in the body. She needs help fighting this infection. Fevers start on the inside of the body and work their way out. She may be having a low grade all day that you don't know about. It is hard to tell how sick a kid is they can bounce back and forth so quickly!!
Hope all works out. I would take her to the doctor myself.

Kids tend to run a little hot at times, especially in the morning hours. Having a temperature of a degree or so higher than the norm of 98.6 isn't unusual if it goes down by itself in a few hours. Since you say that you are giving her medication, then you don't know if she would have a drop in her temperature later if you didn't, and so you don't know if she is actually sick or not.

Keep her home tomorrow and don't give her anything. If she feels fine in a few hours then she most likely isn't sick. But you don't want to send her to school if she is sick with medication masking the symptoms if that happens to be the case, for her sake as well as the other people at the school.

A fever means some type of infection. It may be something that you can't see and might not be bothering her, but it is still serious. Take her to the doctor and make sure you get permission to send her back to school. A fever also means whatever she has could be potentially contagious. Good luck and I hope she gets better.

If she isn't vomiting or anything severe like that i still wouldn't send here to school....if she was around 11 then i would think that maybe she could have got the thermometer and put it under a light to cause heat in the thermometer...and then start faking...but a 5 year old...no school for her...and take a day off and take her to the doctor...and still even if it wasn't that bad, i wouldn't send her to school because cold and fevers are contagious

Serious brain damage can occur when a child has a 100 degree fever or higher. At the first sign of this you should always take child to dr. Also the rule is a child cannot return to school until 24 hrs after a non fever day.
So, take her to dr now. Fever will stop w/in 8 hrs of prescribed medication, child cannot return to school until Friday. 24 hrs of when fever is gone.
-Please take her to the dr, although not showing symptoms, she counts on you to know how to care for her. Instead on playing online, care for your child give her water and keep a cool cloth on her forhead and schedule dr appt. today. Some children could die of fever w/ no other symptoms.

most school districts will say don't send a child to school if she has a fever above 99.5 and since it has been here for a few days make a doctors appointment. No reason to risk her health or the other kids.

Daycare centers cannot accept a child running fever. They have to send them home. This is to prevent spread of disease. I understand that not all fevers have a contagious disease attached to them - my son had chronic ear infections and was sent home every other week! That's just how it goes. Schedule a visit with the doctor just to make sure your baby is OK.
