Jehovah winess's are a "religion" but they have alot fo cultish things. They train you to go door to door and manipulate someone elses mind so they will believe you. They also use a bible which has been prooven to have words in it that aren't in the orginial greek scriptures. Jehovah Witness's arent aloowed ot have non-Jehovah Firends simply becuase if they got into a discussion if the non-Jehovah made sense it would make the Jehovah Witness think.

-Peace in Christ -

The bible says do not associate with non believers. So if you have a problem with that, then you have a problem with the commandment on which God gave us.

hodgiegirl2000 - You're showing your ignorance, sorry. No one is discouraged from learning ancient Greek or Hebrew because I know many Witnesses that have already done so. I also do it myself, along with research on early Christian writings.

We aren't discouraged from using the internet, but we are discouraged from engaging in chat rooms that could lead us into serious sin.

The fact is, I've done my research on Greek on Hebrew translations, and found similar translations that supports the NWT bible. The most important translation was the Coptic Translation of the Greek scriptures. It was translated some 200 years after the bible was completed, and it also render John 1:1 to "a god" and so forth.

Holidays? Well, theres no record in the bible that states we should celebrate any holidays. There were records of birthday celebrations in the bible, but they were people who did not worship god at all, and they committed serious sins while doing so.

Christmas was never talked about in the bible, nor did Jesus and his disciples celebrate his birthday. Jesus was not even born in December, which shows you that Christmas was never supported by any of the early Christians. There were celebrations of pagan gods around the time of December 25th.

No, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is not a cult.

The premise of the second question is entirely false. Many Jehovah's Witnesses enjoy close friendship, even sibling-like intimacy, with non-Witness friends. This certainly implies that the non-Witness is relatively wholesome, but there is no "cut-off point" for measuring some minimum of that quality.

(1 Corinthians 15:33) Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits.

Each individual and family head among Jehovah's Witnesses decides for himself with whom he will socialize.

(2 Corinthians 1:24) Not that we are the masters over your faith, but we are fellow workers for your joy

Don't we all usually choose friends that have similiar interests to ours? Since my life revolves around serving God and teaching others about Him, I naturally choose friends who have the same beliefs/values.However, that doesn't mean that I don't have any acquaintances that I like and respect that aren't Jehovah's Witnesses. We don't separate ourselves from other people like cult members do. If we did that, we wouldn't be able to obey the command in Matthew 28:19 & 20. And if you want to know about our beliefs, here's a link that will tell you the truth:

Who said we can't have non-JW friends? And no, we aren't a cult. Both of those are just a few of the many lies people tell about us to make us sound weird. Just because we choose to obey Bible teachings like the one at Matthew 28:19,20 which tells us to follow Jesus example and preach, and other Bible principles, people think we're a cult.

In the future, I would suggest asking a Witness instead of asking non-JWs. Why ask someone who's not a JW about our beliefs? You're not going to get the right answer.

--NO , nothing like a cult--We have no secrets!
--WE DON'T have any leaders that we are affraid of , obey no matter what, and follow anyone or any organization blindly!
**WE ALONE make the decision as to who we will associate with , with the exception of directing our children with care!
-----THUS WHEN WE MAKE OUR DECISION it is based on "bad associations will spoil useful habits...."
--------THAT MEANS - those who advocate immorality; obscene joking; cursing, heavy drinking; druggery; press us-- and especially our children with their doctrines ETC.!
-----------IS THAT NOT REASONABLE?

--YOU HAVE a bunch of SLANDERERS on this page, misrepresenting us as individuals and as an organization!
----THESE ARE SOME testimonies from those who have researched OR investigated us:
*** w02 7/15 p. 24 par. 18 They Keep On Walking in the Truth
--18 As neutral individuals in subjection to “the superior authorities,” the first Christians were no threat to any political entities, and neither are Jehovah’s Witnesses. “It takes a bigoted and paranoid imagination to believe that the Jehovah’s Witnesses pose any kind of threat to any political regime,” wrote a North American EDITORIALIST(my caps). “They are as non-subversive and peace-loving as a religious body can be.” Enlightened authorities know that they have nothing to fear from Witnesses of Jehovah.
*** g92 8/8 p. 11 AIDS—How Will It End?
--Interestingly, the media have often commented favorably on the morals of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Africa: “[They] have shown themselves . . . to be decent, orderly citizens living up to a high moral code,” stated the Daily Telegraph of London, England. It added: “The promiscuity and polygamy characteristic of African society is simply inconceivable among Witnesses.” Similarly, the author of the book Contemporary Transformations of Religion, Bryan Wilson, comments that “in African society, Witnesses . . . become exceptional people” and that “the effect of [their] . . . code of morals is evident among them.”

On the contrary, the Witnesses are among the most respectful and law-abiding of citizens. “If all the religious denominations were like Jehovah’s witnesses,” said AN OFFICIAL (my caps)in one African country, “we would have no murders, burglaries, delinquencies, prisoners and atomic bombs. Doors would not be locked day in and day out.”

***NO OTHER RELIGION has had testimonies from the world as have Jehovah's witnesses, as to not being a cult , subversive or a threat to anyone !
--NO CULT, NO SECT, SO SECRET SOCIETY, and none of the slanderous description you have read!
--ONE THING WE are and that is as imperfect as any other people , same problems , concerns, feelings--but we as an organization( that is also imperfect ) as well as individuals take seriously following Christ Jesus example!
--THOSE IN HIS day referred to his Christianity as a sect & cult!

They are very cult-like in that they forbid members from talking or reading about things against the JW religion, and they shun people who leave for whatever reason.
I heard that in their upcoming Kingdom Ministry, they will be discouraged from trying to learn ancient Hebrew and Greek to compare how well their New World Translation Bible compares to the original manuscripts. They are highly discouraged from being on the internet, except at the Watchtower site or for secular research purposes.
They are not allowed to have close friends or associates outside of other Witnesses, because the Bible says "bad associates spoil useful habits."...1 Cor. 15:33 They include people who don't worship God the same way as they do as a bad association.

Mama...that is not exactly true. Witnesses can't be forced not to have friends outside of the Watchtower, but they are warned against it frequently. They are even warned against being close with Witnesses who are not regular at the meetings.

I want to know why they do not celebrate anything no birthdays, nothing. To think if you're serving good at least enjoy his birthday. Christmas is a great holiday apart from spending lot of money on gifts.
