When he is hungry put other foods on his highchair tray in front of him. Don't offer him the string cheese. He will eventually eat something else. Just eating cheese and milk will eventually constipate him.

My daughter still goes through that and she is 28 months. I give her a little bit of food and tell her she can have (we will say string cheese) when she takes a few bites of her food. After a few bites I give her a chunk of string cheese then tell her if she wants the rest she has to take a few more bites of her food. This started to work great. Even though it is time consuming it is worth it to get them to eat something else. My daughter's obsession is mac n cheese and apple juice.

Run out of string cheese and offer him other foods. He won't let himself starve. Show him that it's all gone and let him pick something else. I'm sure he'll cry and throw a fit at first but he'll get over it and eat other things. You are the parent, be strong.

We all go through it. Kids go through phases. I did not believe my mother-in-law when she said that after two years and my son ate everything under the sun. Then he refused to try anything. She says it happens and then the next year he might go back to eating everything again.

Don't panic - if your afraid that she is not getting the proper nutrition, suppliment it with a multi-vitamin for children that does not have a lot of processed sugar.

Next month she could only want fruit - you just never know. As my pediatrician says - she is a living, breathing organism and will do whatever it takes to survive.

At least he isn't eating junk food. Cheese and milk are great for building strong bones so let him eat it, and you could always buy some milk shakes with added vitamins in them in vanilla and just pour it in a cup and say it's milk.

I have that problem occasionally. I just keep offering other foods. Yes, he'll get cranky because he's hungry and only wants the one thing, but when they get hungry enough, they'll eat. My 23 month old only wants juice or milk, so when I give him water, he gets crabby and tosses the sippy cup at me, but I don't give in. He needs water too, and eventually, when he's thirsty, he'll drink it. Just remember that you're in charge, and soon he'll be eating different things.

Why in the world are you allowing him to tell you what to do!!!
Who's the parent here!!!
You need to step up to the plate and act like a parent!!!
Only give him good healthy nutricious foods. Don't worry - if he refuses, do NOT give him anything between meals and stick to your guns on this. Sooner or later he will eat because he will get hungry.

Kids that age often go though food ruts. You should look at your child's diet over a full week and not just one day. Just try to keep adding different foods, but don't worry if he just seems to want one thing.

I hope you are giving him formula to make up for an inadequate diet. He could get scurvey or another deficiency disease. My brother only wanted to eat peanut butter and apple jelly. He got scurvey and had to have gum surgery. He ate mainly peanut butter and apple jelly for over five years. Food jags are not always temporary or short-lived.
