I'm 25 years old and very overweight. I am currently trying to lose 50-60lbs., and am 5'10. I am going about it sensibly- eating right, cutting calories and joining a gym to introduce cardio into my daily routine, but am worried about my breasts. I have big, natural, round and perky 38DD breasts, and I fear that with losing that amount of weight, i will end up with deflated, floppy breasts with excess skin. My firm, plump breasts are my best asset, and although I should expect them to shrink, I am wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent them from getting saggy. Will losing the weight slowly (about 2lbs a week) prevent such? Will cardio alone help, or should I also do light weight training? I have also heard that tofu can improve skins elacticity. Anyone with some insight?

2 years ago I was 30 lbs heavier. I took off the weight slowly, my cup size decreased from a DD to a comfortable C. My breasts look a little deflated, but I think I notice it more than other people because I know how perky they used to be. I believe I could have prevented this if I had strength trained my chest harder throughout my weight loss. I'm currently doing more weights & pushups to lift my chest again :) Since you are only 25, I think the elacticity in your skin is not an issue unless you lose the weight too quickly. Good luck & buy wonder bras! :)

If you lose a lot of weight quickly, yes, your breasts can sag. I would try spot toning, to avoid losing all over as much as possible. Also work your pecs, that will help hold your boobs up. Since you're only 25, I would say your risk is minimal. However, bear in mind, Rome fell, and those will, too!
Your other best bets are to wear good supportive bras, all the time, and replace them frequently. Wear sports bras when you work out. Lose your weight slowly, eat a healthy diet, and drink plenty of water.
If all else fails, there's always the option of implants and/or a breast lift. Good luck!

This almost seems like a fake question since so many adjectives were used to describe your breasts, but I will proceed as if it is completely honest and give you the benefit of my doubt. How your breasts will manage during and after your weight loss is entire dependent on a few factors. First, how fast you lose the weight. The faster the saggier. And two how much of your breast is composed of fat as opposed to mammary gland tissue. When you lose fat you lose it everywhere, but if your breasts are mostly or all mammary they will stay largely the same. The best range to lose weight in is 1 to 2.5 lbs a week. This will allow your body to accustom itself to the loss and the skin to regain its prestretched stage. Losing weight too quickly will cause the skin of abdomen, chest and inner thighs to sag, possibly dramatically. I don’t personally believe in any of the fad diets that keep showing up. I think that they put your body into an unhealthy famine mode which will cause you to gain the fat right back if you start to eat normally again. The best idea is to eliminate all junk food. You can do a cheat day if you need to but don’t go overboard. Eat balanced meals of reasonable size. Overeating will cause your stomach to be too large and you will still feel hungry when you’re not. Also have lots of healthy snacks during the day. Ideally you’ll want to eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day. Carry food with you so you aren’t tempted to eat unhealthily when you’re out of the house. And don’t buy unhealthy foods. Get foods that are low in bad fats—we do need fat to survive but not saturated fat. Minimize the processed flours and sugars, no white bread, no sugar. Choose leaner meats and protein sources. Don’t expect to eat pizza and burritos all the time and lose weight. And eat tons of vegetables. Eat salads, steamed vegetables and raw vegetables too. You can’t eat so much celery that you’ll get fat. Don’t eat too much fruit or things containing high fructose corn syrup. The reason is that fructose is hard on the liver because it can only be metabolized there. You can eat fruit during or after a workout. Don’t eat late at night because your body will turn it into fat. Eat a smaller amount of calories than needed to maintain your weight. You have burn more than you intake. Always exercise. Cardio especially, but weights are good too. Don’t give up. You’ll be glad you chose to lose the weight.

Im surprised more men havent asnwered this question, also let me commend you on your ample use of the word perky. But on to my answer. Losing weight slowly is the way to go. Unfortunatly you will lose some breast size, but a way to combat this is buy going on birth control. Along with regulating your period it will also add a cup size. So you'll lose some but gain some back, enough so you wont sag. But lets not forget about time and gravity, its gonna pull those puppies to the ground.

Good luck on your weight loss, and always be safe about it.

I'm afraid that there is really nothing you can do about it. The breast is just tissue and there is not muscle that will allow the breast tissue or skin remain firm after a large weight loss.

However you will be healthier for loosing the weight and I highly commend you for that.

If you shrink to much you can always have a breast lift.. and possibly augmentation.
