As interesting an idea as it is, you will never see such devices being used for patrolling any border. I doubt they will be used in any other situation, either.

Try this little experiment with some friends this weekend: pick one person to be the "suspect" and arm 4 other people with flashlights. Now...try to shine the light into the suspect's eyes *while* you are trying to subdue him. Targeting someone's eyes is really difficult!

Besides...a few ketchup packets could render a dazzler useless, if you can get close enough to it.

No, dazzlers might sound "cool", but projected sonic weapons are the way to go--they generate an instant migraine and have a very narrow field of effect.

If it is okay to use on USA citizens from unruly passengers to violent criminals, it's should also be used on illegal immigrates. There have been much violence on the border and lately some borders guards are being prosecuted for using deadly force, this puke ray might not only save the lives of the illegals but keep the borders guards from having to use deadly force. Saying that illegals are not to be treated as criminal is wrong for two reasons and first the border guards have no way of knowing whether the illegals have weapons, or want to do them harm. I also feel the illegals are engaging in criminals acts when they break our laws. Once again the illegal supporters are putting the interest of the illegals over the interest of the USA to secure our borders and enforce our laws, as well as the safety and welfare of our border guards

A coworker read that puke ray story to me yesterday- I thought that was pretty vile- but sounds effective
Non lethal is good and a flashlight would be pretty easy to aim.
The idea that any one is worried about offending people that are planning on breaking our laws is nauseating enough- thank you.
I am a legal citizen and no one seems to worry about what might offend me.

To: Ain't life grand- your answer made me crack up- I'm sending my husband to the border now- he always feels the need to "water" the great out doors- I guess that's what happens when you live in the country.

Well, I don't think that it is a strong enough non lethal weapon! While something is better than nothing, I'd like to see tazers on the border and a backup if necessary! Drug dealers and coyotes are not the most principled folks on the planet!

Read where the immigration lawyer says Mexico wont like it!~ she says illegal aliens will be treated as criminals when all they are is people crossing to get better opportunities????..dont these crossers know that they are breaking the law entering into a country that is very sensitive to security at the present time?- all people that break laws are seeking an oppurtunity to profit in some way!!

THe main concern is epileptic shock, but it's still better than a gun. I am amaze that people what people complain about. They are now complaining about the possible use of a non-lethal device to subdue illegal immigrants????

I think it will last as long as it takes for someone to choke to death on their puke, then the ACLU will sue.

Greaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Now we get to clean up puke AND pick up trash on our Jeep runs. :)

It's non-lethal and it works.
I like it.
