my freshman year in high school i had major shin splints. i tried to tough it out and i kept running but they started to turn into stress fractures which honetly was one of the worst pain i've ever experienced in my life. if you continue running on it, they can turn into stress fractures and im telling ya, you dont want that!!!!

Stop Shin Splints Forever?

Shin splints are caused by muscle imbalance. Calf strong, shin weak. The way to correct this is to strengthen the muscles at the front of the legs. Lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Try to work up to 3 or 4 sets of 5 – 10 reps each. Good Luck

Yeah I have my first year of college when I tried out for the volleyball team, I had shin slints for about 2 months prier to tryouts. I tried out anyway, made the team and had to be benched for the first 5 games cause it had gotten just that bad. My advice don't do it. I had shin wraps, warmers and great sneakers it still got bad, because of the force you are putting on your legs.

Try doing toe raises on the edge of a step to strengthen the front of the lower leg.

shin splints need to heal or they will not get better and it will get to the point where normal walking is to painful and not letting it heal may lead to permanent damage.
