There are a few I can tap my feet too, but most of them are too depressing and call on help from God too often.
You would think that with all the praying country singers, there would be more happier songs, I guess God just isn't answering, and doesn't take the wheel.

Yeah..I like Conway Twitty, David Houston, George Jones, Merle Haggard and the Man in Black, Johnny Cash is one of my absolute favorites. I even love his song "God's Gonna Cut You Down"
How's that?

Agree with Skalite. I love Elvis, and I can tolerate some Johnny Cash, aside from the I don't really like it. I do find some of the poppy country catchy, but never my preference.

How strange.
Is it your contention that country music is a religious experience?
Can you be Jewish, Buddhist, or Taoist? Or must you only be Christian?
Is there a means test before you buy a CD?
I could see where Gospel might not be high on their list, but, I think country is music, not religion.

A few tune. I like a song that rings true. It is better than most of the whinny and cryptically self absorbed pop of today.

Of course, my father played the guitar, mandolin, and the five string banjo. The banjo is my favorite, I used to play the five string a bit back in the day.

You could fit all the country songs I like onto one CD.
I feel that way about rap, also.
I needs me some loud, crunching gee-tars in me music.

Johnny Cash was the man. Pure and simple. Other than that, and some old Elvis, no.

hmm... i'm more of an industrial-based person.
but to actually answer the question, it's not just the sound of country i don't like, i can't stand the lyrics in most songs.
