My baby girl took off her shoes and ran away down the garden, (little minx),she started 'niggling' at her feet so I took a look at them and found about 6 tiny splinters in the soles of her feet.
I tried to get them out, but she went absolutely APESH*T and won't let me near them now, all I could do was rub some antiseptic on them.
I'm worried they'll get infected now, she's gone to bed and is oblivious to them.
Will they 'work themselves out' even if they infect, or shall I try getting them out, even if she goes nuts?

Thanks all, I'll have a go at them while she's sleeping, if I have no luck, I'll try EVERYTHING you've all suggested tomorrow!!

Splinters will generally work themselves out, but usually the pain stops faster if you get them out.
Rather than dig around with tweezers and whatnot you can try to remove them by running a credit card over the splinter in the direction it should come out (not against it so it would push it in or break it off).
Also just soaking in hydrogen peroxide may make them come out and she may like to watch the bubbles. Be aware that hydrogen peroxide can discolour skin, particularly callouses, the skin may turn an opaque white or very light yellow. This is not a concern, nor is it a sign of infection.

If there are still parts of the splinters outside the skin, you can put a piece of tape over it, and then peel the tape off in the direction opposite of the way it went in, pulling the splinter out. They say using white glue works also, but she is not going to sit still long enough for that to dry. Good luck

Try getting her to take a warm bath, which softens the skin around the splinters. Then rub some orajel on her skin. It will numb it up a bit and then try removing them again. If they start to get infected a little bit, call the doctor.

I'm not sure how small "tiny" is. Personally I would probably have her play in the bathtub (soaking might help get them out. ) I know there there are several "drawing" salves/ ointments that are supposed to be good for drawing splinters out.
If it gets infected you will know, there will be painful red "bumps" where the splinters are- then it is definitely time to see the doctor.
Best Wishes

Don't know if this will help much...but i work in a lumber mill and handle a lot of pine.Splinters usually come out by themselves in a very short while.Don't worry about it.If you put antiseptic on her feet, she should be fine.I never used antiseptic on splinters and they never got infected.

boy can i sympathise...same thing happened to me ...except it was my boys hand.
after 2-3 days an infection began to form. In all reality the puss will help work out the splinteres but i didnt want to take the chance of that getting out of hand and had a doctor help me remove the splinters as i restrained my son. about 2 min latter he was all over the doctor , wanting to play...and splinters were gone.

Get her while she is sleeping. If not, try bribing her with candy or popsicles to try and get them out. There is a chance they could work themselves out, but just as much chance of an infection. I would try your best to get them out, and if you just can't, then just keep an eye on them and continue to clean her little feet when you can. Good luck!

They may work themselves out. If they start looking red or start bothering her you'll have to have someone help you. You can not get slivers out with out someone pinning her down. You need one hand with the needle, or tweezers and the other to hold her foot. The other person will need to hold her legs down and hold her arms down. She'll scream bloody murder but keep calm and talk to her in a calming voice. After the first few times she'll be able to hold still once she knows it doesn't hurt.

Could you amuse her with something, while you rub the area with cooling cream, then remove the splinters as she relaxes and giggles at whatever you're amusing her with?
