Some of the food from the wedding! I had so many tea sandwiches left over but no one packed us a leaving bag and I couldn't eat anything at the wedding. When I got back to the hotel room, we were starved. I would have loved to have been able to eat some of the food that my guests ate.
I know I would have much preferred a tray of bread, meat and cheese instead of strawberries. But thats b/c I was hungry. I agree strawberries are more romantic though.
For one of my good friends, we bought a gourmet pizza at the hotel he was staying at. We told them to start preparing it as soon as they checked in (which was about 11 pm) and send it to the room. He loves pizza and probably eats a microwave one everyday. He was sooo happy!

Yes, those would be very appropriate. Anything light and finger-foody would be very romantic.
A great idea, if possible, is to have a tray with selections from the appetizers and/or meal ready for them since often the bride and groom don't get to enjoy the food as much as everyone else.

chocolate dipped strawberries is nice, but last year for my anniversary my husband got this really nice tray brought up to our hotel room that had crackers and different cheeses and some cut up fruits like melon and strawberries and grapes served with a bottle of wine. it was really nice and went great with the wine. we really enjoyed it even more then the chocolate dipped strawberried we got the year before.

I would do something that the new couple really likes. I am currently planning my wedding, and hope they serve me a turkey rueben, after all the dieting. Food seems to be an afterthought to everything lately, I planned on a diet but found I'm not eating. My sister in law told me after the wedding she was famished and just wanted to eat everything in sight. The crudite that she had in her room didn't cut it. My fiancee ended up going to McDonalds and getting her a big mac and chocolate shake before she was announced.

We also had a cheese and cracker tray and a fruit platter with chocolate fondu - but the best thing ever was the pizza my maid of honour ordered to our room for us! It was awesome!

Either one will do, ask the hotel if they have anything special. Ours had a nice basket they put in our room. It had both cheese and strawberries in it. Also nice champagne!

You know, we barely ate at the reception. There was champagne waiting for us, but I would have KILLED for any type of sandwich, or even cheese and crackers or something!
