If he seems OK otherwise, I suspect the excessive drooling could be a reaction to the extreme heat. I noticed my large malamute mix was doing this yesterday and today. It is their version of excessive sweating. Bring him in to a cool place if possible and make sure he has access to water. Try to keep him inside during the hottest part of the day. An active dog like a lab will still run around chasing things even in the hottest of weather. If this doesn't help, call your vet.

Is anything else going on with him that's a change in his behavior? Is he eating, drinking, playing? Is he lethargic? I would call your vet and ask them, or just go ahead and make an appointment to bring him there.

He may have eaten a wasp or bee. give him plenty of water and watch to see if he swells. Did you check the roof of his mouth to see if something is lodged in there.

he might have a rotten tooth or gum disease. Or maybe he ate something poisonous and is sick. Call the vet and ask them if you should bring him in.
