We are all saved by the loving nature of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Salvation is a free Gift to all who so desire such a Glorious Gift of being forever a son of God ! (all Men, all Women, all Children are classified as sons of God, made in the Father-Son Image of God. Angels are daughters of God, made in the Spirit -- 3rd Person of God.)

Now, doing good works (usually freely done much better after realizing God's Presence, love and free salvation) results in our spiritual standing to ever improve. Jesus says that he who would be greater, must serve others better.

Here is a Revelation to consider carefully. No copyright, thus this may be freely shared.

[about 4000 years ago, at Ur] This covenant of Melchizedek with Abraham represents the great Earth agreement between divinity and humanity whereby God agrees to do everything; man only agrees to believe God's promises and follow his instructions. Heretofore it had been believed that salvation could be secured only by works -- sacrifices and offerings; now, Melchizedek again brought to Earth the good news that salvation, favor with God, is to be had by faith. But this gospel of simple faith in God was too advanced; the Semitic tribesmen subsequently preferred to go back to the older sacrifices and atonement for sin by the shedding of blood.

[about 2000 years ago and eternally True] Jesus made plain to his apostles the difference between the repentance of so-called good works as taught by the Jews and the change of mind by faith -- the new birth --which he required as the price of admission to the kingdom. He taught his apostles that faith was the only requisite to entering the Father's kingdom. John had taught them "repentance -- to flee from the wrath to come." Jesus taught, "Faith is the open door for entering into the present, perfect, and eternal love of God." Jesus did not speak like a prophet, one who comes to declare the word of God. He seemed to speak of himself as one having authority. Jesus sought to divert their minds from miracle seeking to the finding of a real and personal experience in the satisfaction and assurance of the indwelling of God's spirit of love and saving grace."

Believers are rewarded for their deeds done after becoming believers. But it's for rewards, not for salvation. You're saved even if everything you do burns to nothing.

This is why so few Christians understand the Bible. They don't match up verses. The epistles of the New Testament speak of rewards continually, but so many "pastors" can't teach and instead blasphemously apply it to salvation, creating a false gospel that can't save, since the true Gospel is salvation by grace through faith alone.

You cannot take Romans 2:6 out of context. It is not talking about salvation at all. Indeed, we are saved by grace. You have to see the context of it. Paul is talking about how the Church at Rome had a tendency to judge one another. Romans 2:1 starts, "Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things." Romans 2:5-8 states, "But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. For he will repay according to each one's deeds to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; while for those who are self-seeking and who obey not the truth but wickedness there will be wrath and fury." If you look at this closely enough you can see that works lead both to glory and to death. If you read on you will find out that God's judgement is both for Gentiles and Jews. You hae to keep in mind that this is in response to the Romans judging one another. He proves that God will judge everyone. In verse 16 you can see his final conclusion that shows that salvation by works isn't what he is talking about at all. It states that Jesus is the standard of the judge for all people.

Some may look at this and say that it is allowing us to be saved by works. That isn't true. Paul is showing a theme that is seen in other books. He is saying that we have to work out our faith. It means spiritual growth. It is the concept of obedience to the faith rather than salvation from sin.

Salvation is in two phases. The first by grace & the second by Works Philipians2:12-13. Salvation by grace makes you Righteous and sets you on the heavenly path while Salvation by Works make you Holy and grants you entrance to heaven. There is a big place for followership and followership is work.

We are saved by grace, however, God does take notice of what works/deeds we do on earth and will let us know if he is pleased or not with what we have done.

I don't see the correlation here. You have to accept Jesus Christ as your savior to be saved, but God does send judgement to you based on your actions and you can see those judgements ocurring throughout your life as you are living it. Kind of like what some people would call karma.

If you are saved then you are saved, if you repent then you are forgiven.

I personally believe in "once saved always saved"

My pastor told a funny story in church last Sunday that related to this. A man went to heaven and there he saw a man he had known driving by in a Mercedes SLK. He asked God why the man had such a nice car and God said that it was his reward for serving him so well on earth. The man knew that the other man had been poor on earth and couldn't have given much to the church so he began dreaming of his new Ferrari because he, being a lot richer on earth, had given so much more. When God gave him a moped, he was shocked until God explained that the other man had given more of what he had...then he saw his pastor go by on a skateboard!

I believe that we DO store up wealth in HEAVEN by our works on earth...but grace bought us a ticket in the door...where we live and what we get after that is up to us!

You are taking Romans out of context. If you read further, it says, "for those who those who are self seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil..." That means those people aren't saved because they have not even accepted the truth. And Psalms... though that is true, I would not pick out verses in Psalms to make points. Psalms, after all, is poetry, and must be viewed in proper context.

My point is, in Romans, he is comparing someone who follows Christ to someone who has rejected Him. Romans is a book where Paul gradually develops his argument throughout it, so it simply must be taken in context.

I hope this helps.

Absolutely. We are saved by grace through faith. And since faith without works is dead, our deeds are indeed indicative of our standing before the Lord.
