99.9% ear mites can not affect you. They can, however, attach to you and be carried to other animals if left untreated and they begin to populate. They are tiny microscopic bugs that resemble ticks when you looked at the under a microscope. If left untreated it could potentially lead to harming your cats hearing. But it should not get to that point. You kitty is suffering, they are highly annoying bugs that continually drive your cat crazy by them scratching and shaking their head. Which can lead to your cat damaging their ears as well by scratching at it so much. You need to bring your kitten to the vet so they can rightly diagnose that it is ear mites and give you the right medication. Revolution is one of the best medications. It is topical that is placed at the base of the neck inbetween the shoulder blades on the skin NOT the fur. It treats/prevents, ticks, fleas, heartworms, hookworms, and earmites. Good luck!

Ear mites are tiny infectious organisms resembling microscopic ticks. The mite can just barely be seen as a small white dot with the naked eye but usually must be detected by examination of a sample of ear wax under a microscope. Infection usually produces a characteristic dry black ear discharge commonly said to resemble coffee grounds. Because of the classical appearance of this discharge, infection is often diagnosed based on the presence of such discharge though without visual confirmation of the mite under the microscope, it is possible to be led astray. The discharge is composed of ear wax, blood, inflammatory biochemicals, and ear mites themselves.
Ear mite infection is certainly contagious among cats and dogs. Typically, the victim is an outdoor cat. Humans have been reported to develop skin rashes rarely; in general, it may consider that a human pet owner is extremely unlikely to experience any symptoms when their pet is infected with ear mites.

They can't affect you, unless you take the dirt from your kitty's ear and put it in your ear. They can make the kitty deaf if not treated. You must clean the ear with a special liquid, sold at pet stores, or olive oil. Careful, don't use Q-tips, just a cotton pad. Then you can use a spot-on medication on her neck that is appropriate for her age and is for ear mites too (15 mg selamectin) and Oridermyl in her ears. Don't worry about yourself, just treat the kitten.

No they can not affect you but you need to get her to the vet and get medication to get rid of the mites if you haven't already. They will just worse and worse and then possibly lead to infection and hearing loss.

they cause ear as well as yeast infections in the ear and ear canal. it is best to get rid of them as this is a highly contagious problem twords other animals. and yes you can, but that would require you getting ANY of the material in your ear. although it is unlikely as they do like moist and hairy situations better!

I'm pretty sure they mites are not going to harm you..your immune system should be strong enough to fight them off.....and plus i think they might be specific to cat, only affecting cats and dogs
