No. My husband is military and he has flat feet. You just have to make it through basic without support.

Flat feet prevents any person not only joining the police force but also the army. Basically, if you have flat feet, you cannot march over long periods without getting problems. Therefore, you don't pass the entrance medical. As for the police, they all drive cars and when not pretending to be patrolling, they have their feet up, in the station. It shouldn't matter to them. Apart from not having flat feet, have you noticed that if somebody is robbed or a burglary is happening, it takes two days for a copper to show up. When there has been a shooting, it takes two hours. However, for the shooting, the whole force turns up and hangs around like headless chickens with nothing to do for two days. I even suspect that they are using the lights and wailers to get back to the station for coffee breaks now. One final thing about them is that, late at night the firemen and ambulance drivers only use the wailers when there is traffic ahead thus allowing people to sleep. The police love to race around with wailers when the roads are empty thus waking everybody up. In future, the police should recruit those with flat feet and get rid of those with empty heads LOL

I thought that having flat feet is a necessary prerequisite for joining the police force; hence the copper's nickname "flatfoot".
