Yes. You can say "You are welcome." But you should mean it. If you are reluctantly offering food, or being forced to offer food, your reply could differ greatly. It certainly depends on the context. In most cases, however, "You're welcome" is the appropriate (socially accepted) reply.

I was always taught that the only polite response to "thank you" was "you're welcome" and this was backed up by Miss Manners.

Yes...."you are welcome" is a good response. Or you can say .. "mention not" (I don't hear this term often in the US though)...or "my pleasure". I also like the "anytime" response.

When people say thank you to me when I offer them something, I say mmhmm or ur welcome quietly or yepp quietly
