Ok, i am sorry for the stupid answers thus far, heres the deal (in the army at least)
In BCT (basic combat training) no longer called boot camp but same diff, you WILL get paid your basic pay rate and if married you will get separation pay and BAH.
Pay is the 1st and the 15th of the month and if you are lucky you should get your first check shortly after whichever of those dates is after you ship.
Bah and sep alws is paid at the same time as basic pay and varies by rank and i think also by how far away you are or some crap. For example we have one son, and live 900 miles from Ft Benning, where his BCT was and our BAH was about 700. Sepeartion pay i think is a generic 250 per month. If you want base pay theres a good chart on military.com, but i think this years E-1 (beginning rank) is getting around 1200 per month.
As for your sign on bonus which it sounds like most people thought you were referring to is paid half about a month after AIT is finished and you graduate, and then another quarter every year or 2.

I don't know about other branches, but for the Air Force it only takes a couple of weeks before you get paid at the most. And yes, wherever you spouse or other dependent lives, you get BAH for that area.

Your pay starts during basic if you're Air Force (not sure for other branches), and as far as I know, you don't recieve BAH unless you're living off post....which you wont be able to do until you're at your official duty station.

expect 6-8 weeks for the first pay. married service members are entitled to BAH based on the location for their spouses/children during Basic Training.

usually get only a portion, rest is kept on the books or sent to your specified dependent.upon completion, you will be paid the full amount that was carried on the books.BAH (or BAQ) usually only kicks in when you are at a permanent duty station.Boot camp is classified as a temporary duty training unit.Check with your DI for current policy.

You have a "debit" card that you use to buy the things you need/that they do not issue you at the recruit px....this draws from your pay. But after boot you have access to your bank account they set up for you.
