Eat a healthy, diverse and balanced diet that keeps your weight gain within the recommended range of 25 to 35 pounds. Excellent nutritional status is vital for your developing baby, but it also contributes to the strength and health of the body’s largest organ: the skin. What’s more, a controlled and steady weight gain, without any wild upward swings, will let your skin stretch at a steady rate without any unexpected jolts.
Use a body brush or wash cloth to massage the areas where you have stretch marks, or want to prevent stretch marks from appearing - this will increase circulation to the area, which may be helpful.
Drink plenty of water. Hydration is important for your overall health and well-being as well as that of your growing baby, and it is critical to healthy skin.
Take your vitamins. This is one more way to ensure proper nutritional status, which is critical for your overall health and well-being, as well as beautiful skin and a healthy baby!
Keep skin liberally and effectively moisturized beginning in the first or second trimester and through your recovery to your pre-pregnancy weight, perhaps with one of the many oils and creams marketed especially for stretch mark prevention. These moisturizers will help keep your skin supple and elastic plus serve as “food” (and vitamin supplements) for your skin. The various vitamins and oils used to create these formulas are designed to help enhance collagen production and support the dermis, to keep skin intact despite the rigorous stretching. AVON has a really great moisturizer called AVON RE-FINE STRETCH MARK SMOOTHER

Hi Diamond, stretch marks are best dealt with before and when they happen rather than after the pregnancy. Therefore, you need to be aware and prevent stretch marks during pregnancy in order to have your body back to normal after the baby is born. There are a few creams available on the market that prevent stretch marks during pregnancy and therefore needs to be applied as the pregnancy progresses. There are some organic oils, which help prevent stretch marks during pregnancy as well, they can be found in pharmacies and drug stores. The oils as well as the creams need to be applied daily to help the skin expand naturally without causing it to stretch and form the unwanted marks. Some creams and oils that prevent stretch marks during pregnancy need to be prescribed by your doctor in order to make sure that it does not have any chemicals or substances that will cause an allergic reaction or discomfort for you or the baby.Good luck and take care.

You must read this::::
I have had two 2 kids and I have NO stretch marks on my stomach. This worked for me. I had 5 friends and 3 of them did this and it worked for them and the other 2 did not do it and got stretch marks on their stomach.
This does NOT hurt you or the baby.
Since the moment I found out I was pregnant I would lie down on my back in a warm tub with baby oil and cocobutter mix and I would push my stomach out as far as I could. I did this all the time. It seems that doing this prepares your skin for the next step.
I repeat I did not get ANY stretch marks on my stomach. Now my thighs and breast well, I got them there but, they never did turn purple, I was told the baby oil and coco butter mix prevent the purpling of them.
I have also put coco butter all over my body apparently, since I got stretch marks on my legs and breasts, it did not work.
I am not a large girl. I weighted about 125lbs before I got pregnant. I weighted 235 lbs on delivery day of my first child. I was fat, no lie. My second child I had toxemia which is high blood presure and I weighted 265lbs she was premature at 6 1/2 mts.
I was huge, but not one mark on my stomach, So did the bath tub trick work? it did for me and my 3 friends that tried it.
Now my kids are 9 and 6 and my marks on my legs and breasts have decreased quite a bit. But I am much happier that I didn't get any on my stomach, I can wear bikini's etc.
BTW I am back down to 125lbs.

I have gotten stretch marks that are really light on the upper part of my thighs by my hips caused due to losing weight when younger. I did not get any stretch marks during first preg. and 23 weeks w/this one and so much bigger and still no stretch marks. I hear of all kinds of cocoa butter and such to use but I don't believe any really work. I used this one brand from walmart...tall white bottle w/orange lid...used it maybe 2-3 times a month b/c i forget and didn't get any. My friend swore by this expensive kind and used it daily and she looks like a road map. If you are meant to get them, you will. Lotion may help decrease how much you get them if you do end up w/them. I would just use lotion to keep skin soft and not dried out. Congrats!

There is nothing that can a hundred percent prevent them. However, applying lotion to your tummy on a daily basis may help to reduce how drastic or dark the stretch marks you get are. The lotion helps improve the skins elasticity. Many say cocoa butter is the best, but I think any lotion is better than none.

I am as prone as they come, red hair and light skin that scars EASILY. I used olive oil and ate as healthy as I could with my first pregnancy (so I din't gain weight like crazy) and I didn't get one stretch mark on my belly, did get a few on my hips and butt though. Just try to gain weight steadily and eat healthy and use olive oil. I mixed it with some cocoa butter and used it that way. Good luck and Congrats!!!

ELEMIS JAPANESE CAMELLIA OIL!!!!!!!
I used it and I did get any stretch marks at all!
My friend used it too but she ran out on the last month and got them as soon as she stopped using it!!!
I recommended it to my other friend who is 6month pregnant just now and she doesn't have any yet either! It's a little expensive but you can't put a price on having no stretch marks. It has a lovely smell and consistancy too. Buy it now lol.

Cocoa butter will help, but in the long run, putting on less weight during pregnancy will prevent most marks.

Not really sweetie! Well except for not getting pregnant or fat....all joking aside, if you are that concerned about stretchmarks, how come you got pregnant?
They will never go away either!
To minimize their appearance you cam moisturize everyday and pray!
Good luck!
Oh and you should not be lying in a tub either! Doctor's tend to discourage tub baths when you are prego! Even if your water isn't broken you should avoid it!
