If I can see from the start that the answer wasn't cut and pasted, I'll give it a few paragraphs at least, and as long as it isn't a rant, I'll keep going. If it contains a lot of bible verses, I ignore it immediately.

I don't usually read long copy/paste, or lengthy quotes from the Bible or Quran. I prefer that people direct me to a link, or the chapter to which they refer.

If someone actually takes the time to type out an answer, I'll read it no matter the length. It would be disrespectful not to.

More than one screen page.

If it seems like it's been cut-and-pasted, or like it's a canned response, I will give it an automatic thumbs down so I won't have to scroll against it the next time I come to the question.

It all depends on the answer. If it is truly insightful, I will read a longer post, but those are few and far between. Otherwise, I limit my attention span to a screen or less.

If it goes two-thirds of the way from the bottom to the top, I won't read it. If it won't fit, I'll give it a thumbs down so I can navigate better. Unless it's an answer to my own question, then I'll read it.

If it's an interesting answer to a decent question, I'll read a fair bit - I usually put them in my watchlist for future reference, like when it's slow on here!
But most times, 2 or 3 paragraphs is enough to tell me whether I need to read on.

Anything longer than a screen demands a thumbs down to create a manageable scroll through.

I won't read anything over about 20 lines that's not separated into paragraphs.

I'll read a very long one if it is interesting and well-written. I'm in no rush here :)

If however it sounds like a copy and past, I'll thumbs down it and move on.

If the first sentence or two is very interesting, I'll read it no matter how long it is. If it's a rant, I'll only read the first paragraph.
