They come to mine about 2x a year. Never pressure me, always polite. They even ask me if they can leave whatever they got with me! One left a book with me title What Does The Bible Really Teach? That was about a year ago, said he was coming back to ask me questions and never showed up after that. Well, I forgot all about it that book until I found it last week in my "junk check it later drawer" just a few days ago. I read just a few pages of it so far. I am just wondering because I see a lot of postings where answerer's say they are annoying and knocking all the time. Well, not where I live!

When I used to live near a Kingdom Hall they came at least twice a year.

What they do is break down the streets and assign people to them and keep a record of who they've talked to and who is open to them. They will do follow up if you want them to--this would then include a weekly time of study with them. (This is the beginning of the indoctrination process whether or not the person realizes it.)

Now, that I've moved farther away from the locale I was once at they only come by every other year. Besides, I probably got black-listed because I talk with them about doctrinal error out of the Word of God. I'm sure they've warned others to stay away from me.

Last weekend a couple stopped and they were new to the area so they probably didn't know that I've been black listed.

Thank God for the opportunity to witness of Jesus's love, power and grace.

You may live in an area we call Seldom Worked Territory, which means that not very many JWs live in your area, therefore not many of them get the chance to work the whole area in field service. In that case, JWs from other congregations come to that area for a short time and work it. It's nice to know that you have an interest in what you've read, though. My suggestion to you would be to find the local Kingdom Hall and try to start a free home Bible study. That way, a witness will come to your home at whatever day and time YOU want them to, and you can study the Bible with the help of the Bible Teach book. It's a great Bible study aid. I hope you decide to learn more! And don't worry; contrary to popular belief, the information comes STRAIGHT from the Bible, not from JWs. That book is designed to help you understand the Bible better; not to replace the Bible's thoughts.

These people who 'claim' they're visited each week must live in a postage stamp town of 4 streets. Our territories are often very big, covering many square miles or city blocks, and we can't cover them more than 2 or 3 times a year at best.

If you would like to discuss the Booklet, just give the Kingdom Hall a phone call, someone will be happy to drop by when it's convenient for you.

Thanks for the question.

They come until they can talk to the occupant. If nobody is home, they'll leave paraphernalia stuck in your doorknob with a phone number. If you don't call them they will keep making attempts. If you don't want them to visit, call their number and they will stop coming. However, you may get a phone call from them when they have 'phone witnessing' and will be asked if you want to hear some scriptures from their Bible. You may want to go to the hardware store to see if they sell any JW spray similar to bug spray

I think you must be an open-minded and loving person at heart to feel so. I am associated with Jehovah's Witnesses, and when we go door to door and meet someone who strongly objects to our being there, or asks us not to come back, we are to put that on a card as a home not to be visited again for at least a year.. so honesty counts when dealing with Witnesses. If folks don't want us at their door, all they need do is say so politely, and we shouldn't come back for quite awhile. Now, remember please, that situations change. Perhaps there have been quite a few movings in and out in your area, and there's the possibility that we think someone new lives in that home.. we were asked by God to give everyone we can the chance to hear His plan for mankind. Or consider that fact that perhaps YOU have changed, as I did. I didn't want Witnesses at MY home. I had a huge chip on my shoulder about God, and I didn't want to hear it. Much later down the hard road of my life, I changed. My life situations changed. I not only wanted to hear the truth, I NEEDED to hear the truth.. and it ended up that for me, Jehovah's Witnesses have it!
Keep that mind wide open! :)

In most parts of the United States, each congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses expects to call at each home in its territory about twice or thrice each year. A few rural areas receive only one annual visit (if that), and some metropolitan areas receive weekly visits.

The United States branch office of Jehovah's Witnesses recommends that local congregations do not plan to call at homes earlier than 9:am, unless there is a prior appointment. When unhappy householders complain that "Jehovah's Witnesses" call at unreasonable times of the day or hound a particular address repeatedly, the householders should perhaps ask themselves exactly why they believe it must have been genuine Witnesses who knocked or rang the doorbell.

Personally it is rare, but then I am a Witness:D

I think some on here take license to stretch the truth abit. Though I am sure there are times when we make mistakes and call back on someone who is uninterested repeatedly. I have had occaisions where one person in the home is interested, someone else isn't and confusion insues. I think people don't always consider that we don't want to waste time, ours or theirs. It isn't like we come week after week, if that really ever happens, just to bug someone, either someone at the home is interested or pretending to be, or there is a clerical error.

Maybe you live in a rural area..I knock in doors so when i get visit by JW are the ones in my congregation..But i hope you enjoy the book and read it and if you have any questions or concerns call or write to your local kingdom hall or the address in the last page of the book.. And im sorry he didnt return like i say you may live in a rural area and there alot of houses to reach..then maybe who can help by looking for them...i try to be brief when preaching cause i know alot of you dont like people knocking at your house but we are following Jesus has he said in Mathew 24:14 to preach all over the world till the end get here...And rememeber we are doing a volunteer social service to the community by getting people to read there bible or any publication...we encourage peoples to start there reading habits since those are almost lost with the TV, or we are so busy we dont even have time to read a book...thats why the magazines are short and simple and the books too..it take you 15min of your time to read a little...at least a part of the bible to help you understand God

The frequency of our calls usually depends upon the number of Jehovah's Witnesses living in your area. More Witnesses means the territory is covered more often. Where I live we cover our territory about once every 3-4 weeks.
We do make an effort to call back on persons who show some interest as the person said he would with you. However, "time and unforeseen occurrence" befall us all and one or more of these may have prevented the person from calling again. If you really would like them to visit more often, that can be arranged.

It depends where you live. Some areas have a higher concentration of Jehovah's Witnesses than other places. For example, there is 1 Jehovah's Witness to every 30 persons in St. Helena. Obviously, Jehovah's Witnesses would make their way to every person very often. Other places, such as very rural areas, may not see one of Jehovah's Witnesses for years.

Jehovah's Witnesses are active in 236 lands throughout the earth. 'Everyday without letup they preach from house to house the good news about Jesus Christ'. (Acts 5:42; Matthew 24:14) They preach from house to house in the most respectful manner that they can. They remember be kind and to love their neighbor, and speak to them about their hope, "doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect." -1 Peter 3:15

I recommend that you take a look at that publication What Does the Bible Really Teach?. Use your Bible to look up the scriptures that are in it. If you have questions, contct your local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, or write to the address provided in the book.
