Retaliate, every time you go out put some really bad (cRAP) music on loud. Oh and piss in their milk.

Complain to your local Council and insist they do something about the noise. It sounds like your neighbours are genuinely anti-social and people like them are the bane of many decent folks' lives. The Council will not identify you as the person who made the complaint, and if you don't tell your neighbours it was you they should never find out. If you're that worried about trouble from the neighbours, don't tell ANYONE you've made a complaint, not even a friend, you don't know who they might mention it to.
When the noise continues after 11pm you can call the police out to them, and again you will not be identified as the person who made the complaint. Your neighbours could be issued with an ASBO (if you're in the UK) and it might help the situation. If that fails, you might just have to move, like I did, but even now 3 years later I still wish I'd reported my neighbours for noise instead of giving up and moving away.

Well the first thing you can do is call the cops, if you ask not to be identified the cops wont say WHO called in the noise complaint and if it is really that bad the complaint could have come from any one of the neighbors, right?

Next try posting this question on a different forum, this is the Dogs forum and uless you are looking for an answer than involves using dogs to stop these people you will get more and better answers elseware

I had this a number of years ago, these sort of people you often can't reason with, I was advised to try, so I did, can't repeat the words they used, so then I thought, damn it, why should I let these people ruin my life, so I contacted the local noise and pollution officer. They told me to keep a log of all the noise, I did, and eventually they were evicted by their landlords.
If they own their property, they can still be taken to court. With leasehold properties, sometimes their lease can be revoked and they lose their property.
Thankfully now the laws are starting to get strict on anti social behaviour.

These people sometimes get their sounds systems removed and can end up paying hefty fines.
Don't let them get away with it, and why should you move or put up with the missery this can cause.

We all make noise at times, and polite people will put a note through your door, saying they are having a party, if it gets too noisey let us know and we will turn the music down.
Thats how civilised people do it.

I think you can have a free noise monitor fitted from the noise pollution people too.

Good luck with it all, I know what you are going through, but you are the innocent party here.

Try the diplomatic way first; if they have had a particularly noisy night, make sure of making a reference to it next day;
"Family celebrations last night, had you?" and they may respond with,
"Ah, no just a few drinks and a few laughs"

That's your cue.
"Actually, I've meant to bring it up a few times...it's really hard going sometimes for us next door when you play music as loud as that at night....."
Fill in your own bits then.
They may not realise how much it's annoying you - it's a lifestyle choice for them, they love it! If it continues with no let-up at all, be more firm the next time, and say
"Look, we have to come to some arrrangement over the noise..."
Keep a note of times and dates that you approached them. Your local council should be able to help with info on noise pollution bye-laws. Only complain as a last resort to the police...as you say, if they think you complained..etc..

Sorry but try this. Suggest that your local hells angel club are comming around for an axe throwing contest and that as some of them get a little high or drunk or both their aim gets a bit bad. So anyway be aware that they have loud Hogs and there maybe a bit of shagging going on outside. Do a flyer, and inadvertantly put your neighbours address on it and go around and say you hope they dont mind redirecting the Angels around to your house.
If you are really a great hoaxer then get say 100 flyers done and stick them on any hogs or wherever there are any Hells Angels.

I so sympathise with you. It's a difficult one. I live in a lovely area where some new houses were built close buy. Unfortunately, any new development needs to have an element of affordable housing included and as expected, that has caused trouble - exactly the same thing you have talked about. You need to be careful, people like this generally aren't very educated or decent people - hence their behaviour in the first place. They are likely to cause trouble. Secondly, if you were to sell your home you would have to declare any disputes and most people would pull out of the sale. You could report them anonymously to the police for noise pollution or simply move - these people are so selfish - you can't reason with them.

Council officers have a duty to investigate the nuisance under section 79 of the Environmental Protection Act. This says they must take ‘steps as are reasonably practicable’ to investigate your complaint.

Call and ask the police to do some drive bys. If they still are doing it, then see what the city laws are on noise levels outdoors and if they are breaking the laws, report it to the police. I totally understand with you not wanting to tick them off. They sound like the kind of people who would key your car or something crazy like that. Best of luck!

When they're not partying so hard (make sure they're not drunk), go over and tell them that they should be more respectful to those around them, and quiet down. You have the right of speach, so just have a friendly talk with them. They shouldn't be making that noise. By the way, why is this in 'dogs'?
