Eggs to cold water in pot.
Bring to full boil.
Turn off burner, leave pot on burner for 10 minutes.
Put pot in sink under cold running water and crack and peal under running water. DO NOT LET EGGS SIT AND GET COLD OR THEY WILL BE HARD TO PEAL.
Please don't let them boil for 10 minutes like everyone tells you or the yolk will start turning green. I have been boiling my eggs this way for 20 years and they always come out perfect.

It depends on the altitude of your cooking pot. At higher elevations you will have to cook the eggs a bit longer because the water boils at lower temperatures there.

But in most places, bringing the eggs in water to a boil and boiling them for 5 minutes is enough to make them hard-boiled.

Here's a quick way to cook eggs on an electric stove and it's never failed yet. Put eggs into a pan with enough cold water to cover them. Put pan on high heat and bring to a boil. Turn the stove off and leave the pan on the burner for 12 minutes.

The key to perferct hard-cooked eggs is to not actually boil them. Put in pot of cold water to cover by about 1". High heat just to boiling, remove from heat and cover with lid. Let sit for 18 min. then cool as quickly as possible under cold running water. You wont have any dark grey ring on the yolk and the white will still be nice and tender, not rubbery.

about 10-12 min for a med sized egg
about 12-15min for a large egg
about 18min for a ex-large egg

1.let the eggs sit at room temp before cooking (less likely to crack when placed in the water)
2. place eggs in a single layer pan and cover with about 1 1/2 in of COLD water.
3. Then bring water to a boil, remove from heat and cover tightly with lid.
4. allow them to sit for the amount of time depending on the egg size.
5. After done cooking, place them in cold water with ice. let them cool for about 10 min then peel them. This will make it much easier to peel.

note: you will know if you've overcooked them if the egg has a green layer around the yolk. This is from a reaction from the iron in the yolk and the sulfur in the white.

Believe it or not, there is an art to cooking eggs in the shell. Find out how to cook them perfectly to your tastes without that gray-green tinge. Remember, hard-boiled eggs is a misnomer as they should not be boiled for any length of time.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 25 minutes
Here's How:
Place eggs in single layer in saucepan.
Cover with at least one inch of cold water over tops of shells.
Cover pot with lid and bring to a boil over medium heat.
As soon as the water comes to a full boil, remove from heat and let stand. Large soft-cooked eggs: let stand in hot water 1 to 4 minutes, depending on your tastes.
Large hard-cooked eggs: let stand in hot water 15 to 17 minutes.
When cooked to desired level, drain off hot water.
Immediately cover with cold water and add a few ice cubes.
Soft-cooked eggs: let stand in cold water until cool enough to handle. Serve.
Hard-cooked eggs: let stand in cold water until completely cooled. Use as needed.
Tips:
Never boil eggs. It makes them rubbery.
Use older eggs. Fresh ones won't peel properly.
To keep eggs from cracking while cooking, pierce large end with a needle, which will also make them easier to peel.

After you bring the eggs and water to a full boil, 15 minutes. Then drain, shake the pan well to crack the eggs while running cold water over them if you want to peel them right away.

If you cook them this way, the yolk will always be yellow, never any of that green on it

Tak a pot of cold water from the tap, add 12 eggs. Put on high heat and set timer for 20 min. Remove eggs when times goes off and run under cold water. Perfect everytime, never green.

I boil mine at a low boil for about 10 minutes.

I was taught to hard cook them and not to boil about 15 min keep them moving
