cause they're silly, and usefull. I'm a dog person but I have a cat too and as much of a snot he can be he's just as entertaining at times. Plus my apartment over looks a small forest so every now and again we have a few mice running around. I haven't had a problem with them since I got him.
Edit: Ok, so my cat doesn't come and cheer my up. That's my dog's job. But I will admit he does try in his own way. A couple weeks ago I had a really bad day and while I was cuddling with my dog, my cat got into a bit of his catnip and tried to jump out the closed window to get at a moth on the other side. Now, I know it's not funny cause he could have hurt himself but watching him take the flying leap, fall, and then get up and give that "I meant to do that" look. I'm sorry you just have to giggle. So while he may not be a cuddler he does have his moments where he'll make me smile and cheer me up.

Cats are not evil. They love people and yes, when you are down they will come and put their little paw on your hand and lick your hand. They will cuddle up and knead you. They will play around in a funny way to cheer you up and relax you. They will chase their toy and then bring it to you as a gift. And when they do these things you know they mean it, they don't do it all the time like dogs.

Cat's Will cheer you up. Some wont leave you alone till your happy again. Sometimes They will curl up with you and just lay there or they will do something funny to make you smile. Cats are wonderful.

why the stick up the a$$? They are fabulous animals that are loveable and indepenedent. Their attitude depends alot on how they are treated. But how do you know they are selfish and egotistical? Did you have a conversation with one? Pull that stick out and grow up.

Well, they respond much better to love than hate, so maybe next time you are around a cat give it some love and it won't act so hostile to you. My kitties are very loving and wonderful.

im sorry, but u must be crzy. evry 1 luvs cats. I have my new kitten with me right now and he is mad at u. Anyway, ppl luv cats because they are soft, playful, and great roomate animals. They're only selfish and egoistic when they r little. my 3 cats grew out of it.

Because I'd rather earn the love and affection of my cats, just like I do from humans, than have a love sick puppy following me around, loving me regardless of how I treat it.

Cats will usually reflect the atitude of the people around them. maybe you should check your own personality issues at the door.
